"I want to go to California with you and help you find your foster mother." I said to Sam as I trailed along him, as we approached the Paradise Motel. It was the afternoon and Jack decided to stay with Gilinsky, he said that he'd met up later.
Sam stopped at room 97 and turned to face me, "Wait what?" He motioned his hands open, I could tell that he didn't even realize he made the gesture. I tilt my head to the side, "I thought that's what you wanted, please don't make me look like an idiot." He didn't seem to care, "I already told you that I'm not going to Cali, why would I do that?"
I felt so dumb, "I thought that you wanted to find your foster mother so that you could apologize or some how find your biological parents, isn't that why you told me about them?" My eyes flickered at the window in the room.
Sam took a deep breathe, "I told you about my foster parents because you asked me about my story. Jo, I'm older now and I don't care nor need my foster or biological parents." I lowered my eyes at his chest, "Forget I asked."
I moved closer to him, "Do you have any whiskey or beer, I could really use some right now." I mumbled, he looked to the side to not make eye contact with me.
"Yes, but it isn't for you." He knocked on the hotel door with his knuckles, as I stepped back. "Fine be that way." He ignored me as the door opened and he went inside. Lexi and Nate were playing chest with the most beautiful chest pieces I had ever seen.
The couple were on the carpet, Lexi was laying on her stomach with the world's shortest pair of shorts and tightest tank top ever. Her hair was in a high ponytail and her eyes glared up at us she smiled as she stood up.
I knew that she often wore skimpy outfits but today seemed different. The first thing I noticed was her shiny gold rhinestone pineapple belly piercing. "I've been waiting for you forever." She complained, I stood beside Sam at the door.
I looked up from her piercing, "Sorry, we had some things we needed to do." I smiled weakly. She nods as if she's wondering what we had to do but pretends to not be interested. "Well, your birthday is in a week and I want to go bday shopping. Every girl should and I know I sure as hell will when it's mine." She gushed, I really liked the offer but I wasn't too sure what her plans were.
What if she insisted on me getting a tattoo? I don't think I could handle the pain nor would I want to get something pointless that I'd regret twenty years from now. Lexi grabs her bomber jacket from the edge of bed and slides on some black knee length boots. "First we're gonna go to the mall and buy you whatever your little heart desires with Sam's money. Then afterwards we're gonna go makeup shopping then get you a few tattoos and a piercing. Who knows maybe he'll even buy you a car?"
I smiled as Sam chimed in, "With who's money are you gonna buy a few tattoos with? And how are you mysteriously going afford this car?" He walked over to the bed and laid down.
Lexi murmured, "I knew he'd do this shit," she rolled her eyes as she turned to face him. "follow me."she sighs, as she brushed a few strands of her hair behind her ear. "Sam, please." She begs.
"I think you have me confused, your boyfriend Nate is right there," he pointed down at the dark haired boy who continued to sit on the carpet. "or maybe you have me mistaken with some other guy that you know named Sam." He shrugged, then pulled out a flask from his jacket pocket.
"This is going to be Jo's eighteenth birthday on June 12th, could you be more inconsiderate?" She clinched her hands into fist. Sam rolled his eyes, "I'm being inconsiderate because I'm not allowing a seventeen and nineteen year old use my money to buy a tattoo and go on a shopping spree? Let me repeat that, with my money." Sam laughs as Lexi crosses her arms over cheat.
I felt bad, "No, really it's okay I don't need anything." I laughed nervously. Lexi rolled her eyes, "Johanna please just be quiet."
Sam shook his head, "No Johanna is right, you should learn how to not be such a begging whiny pain in the ass like she is." He was annoyed probably more than he was with me and I couldn't blame him. Lexi turned to face me, she grabbed my hand and pulled me out of hotel room.
