"That night, I quickly slipped into a deep sleep and dreamed of a handsome Indian prince who happened to have a pet tiger," I said, then added. "That was the end of chapter 4."
A knock on the door stopped us from our thoughts of each other. I stared wide-eyed at my mate as we thought quick.
"Celena? It's me, Donovan." Donovan tried the door. Thank the Moon Goddess the lock worked. "One second; I'm changing." I lied as Jonathan jumped out of my bed and hid in the closet. I took a deep, calming breath and opened the door.
"Wow," Donovan said, his eyes looking down at my body. I tried to stay still as a small blushed escaped.
Celena, he's not your mate! You shouldn't blush like that, Crystal, my wolf, growled at me.
Right, he is not my mate. I shouldn't look at him like that, I reminded myself as I smiled up at him.
"When you said you were changing, I thought you meant put on clothes, not off," he said, smirking at me.
Now the blush was out clear on my face. What a lame excuse I said. Now Donovan might think I was trying too hard to get his attention.
I looked down at my robe that showed more than it should, and laughed it off. "What's up?"
"Well, I kind of came here so we could talk privately," Donovan looked down the hall, to the left, then the right.
"Oh! Of course," I said as I gestured for him to come in. He stepped in and sat on the chair Jonathan sat on not too long ago. He looked around.
As I followed his gaze, I noticed him look a little too long at the closet, the door not completely closed, leaving a small crack of space between. I prayed that Donovan wouldn't ask to look in there.
"Well, I was thinking," Donovan started, looking back at me as I sat on the edge of my bed facing him. "I was a hesitant about our relationship the day before yesterday, when my parents told me, I admit. It was hard to believe I would be marrying a woman I have never met."
I nodded. "It was surprising for me too. They probably knew for a while but didn't tell me until the last minute,"
"So I figured since we were going to be married in a few months anyway, whether we want it or not, I think we should give us a chance, you and I," he said, standing up.
"You know, going little-by-little each time to get to know each other, spend some time..." he trailed off as his eyes traveled from my face to my body. I tried not to squirm under his gaze.
When he realized he had took to long and I had noticed, he blushed and looked away. "Umm- I..." He sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "I'm sorry. I got um.. distracted." He looked up at me with a small smile.
"I won't do it again, unless.." he trailed off as he silently suggested something that I knew Jonathan would have hated. But I laughed along with him and answered, "We'll see, Donovan."
He took a step closer to me. "So, will you give me- us -a chance? Maybe, maybe it wont be as bad as we might think if we got to know each other,"
I didn't know if his father told him to come up to my room and say this to me, or he truly felt like he wanted "us" to work, but I nodded, smiling. "Of course," then I gulped, knowing Jonathan would kill me later. "Maybe the Moon Goddess is sending us message, that maybe we were meant to be."
I knew that Jonathan was spying on us through the small crack between the door and the wall. He could see the back of Donovan, but he could see my face clearly.
Donovan smiled. "I'm glad, Celena." He said quietly as he walked closer until we were chest to chest and I had to stare up into his eyes. "Then you wouldn't mind if I did this," he reached out his arm and encircled it around my waist, pulling us closer than we already were.
Donovan
She kept silent, her eyes looking up at me as I wrapped both of my arms around her waist, my fingers grazing her robe's string.
"Can I," I started, looking down at her, warm in my hold. "Can I kiss you?" I said, tilting my head a bit to look at her. Sophia wouldn't like this one bit.
My wolf howled at me to stop, let go of this woman and walk to Sophia's room. I should be holding my mate like this, not Celena.
I blocked him out. I had to do this. I had no choice. My heart thumped loudly as I waited for Celena to answer. Then, she said, "Yes."
And without wasting another second, I pressed my lips to her, tightening my arms around her.
God, she was fierce; she ran her hands up my chest around my shoulders, and tugged my hair, rough, but not too much so it hurt. I let out a soft groan, unprepared for her strong force.
She just moved back a bit until I felt myself leaning over her body. She was lying on the bed, her legs dangling on the edge.
Her robe dipped low at her front and I growled, my hands going to her face, cupping her cheek as I leaned over her.
Strangely, when I smelled her, my wolf detected a male scent on her. I couldn't quite pick out who the man was, but I was sure it wasn't a female. I could still smell a sweet feminine scent from her, and I decided to put the question I was eager to know the answer to, to a side as I ran my fingers lightly down her neck.
She slowly pulled away, and looked up at me, a little out of breath. Before I could say anything, she pressed her finger to my lips. "Sh, Donovan, little-by-little, remember?" She said quietly, reminding me of my own words. She looked away, so I couldn't see her eyes.
I nodded, and slowly pulled her up. As I got up to leave, I looked back at her. "Thank you,"
When she looked at me confused, and I said, "For giving us a chance." Then I left, my lips still tingling from hers.
