Lesson Learned

One of the greatest lessons I learned from my mother is "leave something better than when you came." She always used this to help me keep a home. She always said things are less overwhelming if you just make small improvements throughout the day. Yes, I now know how to keep a clean room, but this taught me much more. It has become one of my greatest motos. I enter each new day and make a brief assessment. At the close of the day, if I have made any improvement to my life, no matter how small, I know this is progress and I'm on my way to success. When I meet new people, I do not feel content just knowing them. I must somehow help them, make them happier people. It may feel small and insignificant, but at night, as I leave the day, I can go to sleep knowing I am closer to my goals than I was before. I can look behind me at the room that I have made for myself, shut off the light, and know that it is better than it was before, and that I am making that wise, beautiful, wonderful woman proud.
