She stood and took a breath,
The past, present, and future slapped her like rain, heat, and ice.
Too many thoughts, I will not try to put in words.
It will all come out like a million overlapping sentences, sounding like a scream.
How do you write a scream, the way you hear it howl?
I tried to type a scream, and all that came out was pain.
She looked into the past, into what she thought would be the present, it's an alternate reality, unsure of which she was living.
So many different feelings, transported from different times,
Things never to be felt again.
It's a rising feeling in your chest,
Excitement, fear, pain.
Many people talk, of how the hand was in their chest, crushing their heart and souls. Hers was inside her chest, but aching to come out.
It tossed it's icy fingers, up and out her throat.
Pressed into the air, willing to come out,
But it never escaped her mouth,
She stood trembling with anticipation,
Hoping it to be over.
She swallowed hard, hurling the hand back down.
The pit inside her stomach,
Now feeling very filled.
She took a deep breath,
Forcing the thoughts to calm.
The words racing through her mind,
Started to slow down.
Dry your eye,
Don't wince or cry,
Pull yourself together.
You live in this present reality,
Make yourself a future.
Shake it off, this never happened.
Put on that perfect, collected smile.
