"Right class, today we'll be working on our creative writing piece. So I need brainstorming!" Mr Rogers announced as he walked into the classroom. "I need ideas bigger than you! I need aliens, monsters, forbidden love, zombies! Everything you can think of!" Mr Rogers was a bit eccentric. "I want you to get into groups of four, so it's probably easier just to work in your pair with the pair in front of you."

I glanced beside me. Luke wasn't even here. Fucking asshole. Okay, that was a bit harsh but with good reason.

"Miss Mills, this is Mason Black." Mr Roger said to me as he came to my desk. Mason turned around and smiled. "Since Mr Hemmings doesn't appear to have shown up today, I'm putting you two as a pair today. Mr Black, this is Mila. She's very good at English so I'm sure you two will get along very well."

Mason was pretty hot not going to lie. He was that really model looking, chiselled cheekbones sharp enough to cut through ice and really pretty dark brown eye and shaped eyebrows that he probably has never plucked in his life.
"So we're to brainstorm then?" He smiled at me.
"Yeah, it's for our creative writing piece, also goes towards your final grade." I explained, as I pulled out some paper. "Maybe we should make a mind map, then we can put some ideas down, see which ones are the crap ones."

"Good idea." Mason agreed. He turned around to take lined paper from his folder and then spun his chair round so that he was facing me. Leaning on my desk, he copied my mind map diagram onto his paper in blue ink. "So, you got any ideas yet?"
"Well, no not really." I laughed and he grinned. "I have no idea what I want to write."
"Well, we could write about aliens. That would be kinda cool. My dad used to work at NASA, he said there's no such thing but I'd like to think there is."
"That's cool. Like an intergalactic story of some kind. Star Wars is pretty big right now."
"Yeah, Star Wars isn't exactly aliens though."
"Couldn't tell you, hands up, I've never seen it." I admitted.
"You've never seen Star Wars? Possibly the best movies of all time. You know what? 'Cause I'm interested in the good health of mankind and believe in equality, I shall bring them for you to borrow. Because you have not lived until you have seen this movie." Mason told me and I laughed.
"I've just never gotten round to it." I said sheepishly.
"Well I'm going to let you borrow my prized collection to watch, and then we can bond over our mutual love of Star Wars." I loved said people like this. When someone gets excited about something, and their eyes light up and they start talking fast and trip over the words because it's something they love and enjoy. It's great.
"We should maybe brainstorm now, but I like the idea of some kind of alien thing." I drew a line from the centre of my mind map and wrote alien.
"Yeah, maybe we could have like, oh I don't know, some kind of alien war going on, earth gets trapped in the middle." Mason replied excitedly.
"Yes! That's such a good idea!" I scribbled down more notes on my piece of paper. "We need some main characters though."
"Okay, let's make it me and you." Mason replied as he wrote down something. "We're writing so it should be us."
"We'll have to change our names then." I told him. "One of us should be an alien and one of us should be just an ordinary human. And then we can have it from both points of view."
"I love that idea! Can I be the alien? Like not a horrible one with a huge head and bug eyes. Like a super-cool one with faded blue skin, and suits made like Iron Man but cooler, because you know, alien."
"Yeah, you can be the alien. You probably know more about it than me anyway, so you should be better at that part." Again, I scribbled down more ideas so that my page was almost full. "We need better name than our ordinary ones though."

"Mornin'." Our conversation halted as Luke pulled out his chair beside me and plonked himself down.

"Mr Hemmings, we're doing our creative writing piece today. You can join in with Mila and Mason, they've already got a lot of ideas jotted down."

"Cool." Luke replied. He pulled out his folder from his bag and a pen, then turned to face us. "So what's your ideas?" Mason looked a bit nervous so I spoke.

"We had this idea that well aliens could be at war like in the galaxy or whatever, but earth is trapped in the middle. So then we had Mason as the alien and me as the human so we could get the story from two points of view."
"We could add you in as like the other alien, because there's two alien forces going against each other. So you could be the other alien and then we'd have all three points of view." Mason added in.
"That's actually kind of cool." Luke admitted. "Why are we in the story?"
"Well, it's just easier to write when you're thinking about it as yourself?" Mason replied, fiddling with his pen. It was slightly awkward because Mason and I had been chatting away for ages before Luke came in and now the energy was pretty much dead. I call it The Luke Effect.
"So are we going to have different names and shit?" Luke asked.

"Language Mr Hemmings." Mr Rogers called from his desk and Luke rolled his eyes.

"You don't exactly get aliens called Luke?" He carried on.
"Well yeah." I pushed in. "Like some kind of warped alien name." The buzz of the bell to singles the ending of first period made us all jump in fright and only now did I remember I was supposed to leave early so I wouldn't cause havoc in the halls as I attempted parkour with my crutches. Dammit.
Everyone quickly tidied up their folders and practically ran out the classroom.
"Miss Mills will you come here for a minute? Actually, you as well Mr Black." Mr Rogers asked as the classism emptied. "Don't worry, it won't take long." I struggled to keep my bag over my shoulder and swing my way over in my crutches, so much that I looked like Bambi on ice.
"Here, let me take that." Mason said and pulled my bag from my shoulder. Usually I would've insisted that he didn't have to but I was seriously struggling right now and I didn't have much of a choice.
"Thank you, I'm having major issues right now." Mason laughed as I told him this. We, well Mason walked, I did whatever I was attempting to do, got to Mr Rogers desk and stood in front of it.
"Mila, I need to give you some catch up work to do as you've been off for a few lessons, and since you've only just arrived here Mr Black, I'll give you some work just to catch up on what we're going." Mr Rogers gave us a pile of worksheets each and we stuffed the into our bags. "And I also heard all your brainstorming ideas today, you two work very well together so make sure Mr Hemmings pulls his weight as well."
We spoke at the same time. "Thank you sir." Laughing, Mason carried my bag as well as his and I followed him out the classroom.
"What class do you have next?" I asked him.
"Maths, I have no idea where I'm going though."
"Well today is your lucky day, because I also have maths so I can show you where to go." The halls had died down by this point, so it was a lot easier to parkour myself about the place.
"So what happened to your leg?" Mason asked as I led him to maths.
"I got bit by a snake, it was on my ankle. But I'm not allowed to be off crutches for at least another week so I don't put strain on it as it still needs to heal."
"Damn, I bet that was painful."
"Excruciatingly." I replied. "Who's your math teacher?"
"Mr... Mr..." Mason struggled to remember as he pulled out his timetable from his black jacket pocket. "Mr Inet. Room twelve."
"That's my class too."
Mason sighed in relief. "That's good, at least I'll know someone, I hate walking into classes because I don't know anyone and everyone just stares."
"Don't worry, they stare whether you're new or not."
