There I was, walking down the isle in a... A cardboard box? What the hell, I’m sure I would of chosen a dress! What’s going on? Why would I choose a box? When did I choose it in the first place? I felt my hands twitching as I faced Charlie, he was wearing a black tuxedo that made him look amazing, and here I was standing in a cardboard box! “You look beautiful” Charlie said, smiling at me. Right, so your saying this cardboard box brings out my natural beauty?
I suddenly awoke and the first thing I did was burst out laughing and wake Charlie up next to me- he practically moved in with me yesterday.
So many things we don’t know about each other, and yet were getting married in less then two weeks. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention we had gotten everything finished, didn’t I?
I bought a long silky white dress, decided who the bridesmaids will be, and Charlie and I decided who the flower girl would be. His little cousin Emily, who had come back from a long trip in Europe with her parents.
Emily is the sweetest little girl I have ever met, she is quite shy but she would be perfect.
Charlie rolled onto his back and stared at the ceiling, sighing to himself. “Please promise me when we get married you’ll at least try to stop waking me up at an unholy hour?” Charlie asked, looking at me. I shrugged, we both knew that promise would be literally impossible for me to make.
The day passed pretty quick, everything was a blur... But it was only blurry because Charlie was doing like 120km an hour in his small, shabby volvo-like car. The car reminded me of Edward Cullen, so I was mostly distracted as he drove me to his parents house. I laughed randomly when I thought of Charlie sparkling when he walked into the sun, or looking constipated every time he saw me.
Charlie knocked on the front door to his parents house, looking at me with a wide smile. I had met his parents a few times but only quickly, but I have heard from Charlie that his mother already adores me.
Charlie’s mother, Celine, was very beautiful for her age and she invited me straight in with a hug and a smile. Charlie did a quick, awkward hug with his father and mother as we walked through the main hallway of the house. It was like a mansion, I was definitely looking forward to having Celine as my mother-in-law...
“So the wedding is on the Coolengatta beach?” Charlie’s father Adrian wondered out loud, Charlie and I both nodded at the same time.
“I had a wedding once on the beach” Adrian mentioned, though quickly changing subject when Celine sent him a filthy look. Charlie smiled and squeezed my hand under the long dining table, we were eating lunch... For once in a long time, I felt like I had a family again.
You see, my brother died in a car crash six years ago and it ruined my family’s closeness that we all had, things had gotten a little quieter since then.
“So Emily is the flower girl?” Celine asked, squealing when I nodded. “She will look adorable! And you, young Charlie, will look stunning.” Charlie swallowed and looked away, his cheeks reddening a little. He is the type of person that you could embarrass within a second.
Charlie pulled me outside with him and held my hand, looking at me. “Mum hasn’t seen me for a little while... Could we stay for one night?” He asked, I smiled and hugged him. “Of course!” I replied, I liked his parents.
Dinner went quickly, we ordered takeaway but it was as good as a sunday roast. Celine took my hand and led me downstairs to the music room, a beautiful fluffy white cat came out of nowhere and rubbed its sides against my legs. “That’s Bear” she said while picking Bear up. “He’s nine years old in a few days but still acts as if he is in his early days” I nodded, patting him gently. A purr rippled through his throat and he looked at me, meowing at me before resting his head on Celine’s shoulder. “He is one spoilt baby” she admitted into Bear’s neck.
The music room was large, it had those old black and white kitchen designed tiles, a large black piano, a few acoustic guitars and one electric guitar and a microphone on its stand. “Back in the day I use to sing” Celine said, I immediately had the thought of her being Celine Dion.
I yawned and curled up next to Charlie in the lounge-room on the couch, Celine had gone to bed and so did Adrian.
Charlie held me firmly in his arms, he started laughing really loud, it was the famous llama gasping for air type of laugh. “What...? What’s so funny? Do I have food on my face?” I became paranoid and he laughed even harder, he took a deep breath and looked at me. “I had a random image of me squeezing you to death by accident, thats all” Charlie said, kissing me on the forehead. I loosened his grip and got up, crossing my arms at him. “I really don’t want to be next to you now, you might ‘accidentally’ kill me” I said with a large grin
