Chapter Thirty-Two (Kiku's POV)

(Random note, but this is probably my favorite chapter! It was incredibly fun to write the text logs. ^u^)

Today is my birthday, but I'm far more excited about the dance. I'm not planning on telling anybody about the former. Antonio's birthday is tomorrow. That's enough on their hands. Last month on Gilbert's birthday they made such a big deal of it. Tino even baked some cupcakes. They were pretty good.

My phone vibrates. It's three in the morning. Who's texting me?

Oh, Alfred. No surprise there.

(A: Alfred, K: Kiku)

A: Keeeeeeeks I can't sleep ;_;

K: Hello Alfred.
A: You're actually awake? Don't you give yourself like a really strict sleeping schedule?
K: I've just been thinking, is all.
A: Oh, about what

A: Are you excited about the dance tomorrow??? :D
K: Technically it's today because of the time.
A: Right!!
K: Yes, I am excited. It will give me an excuse to be out of the house.
A: Why do you need to be out of the house? I thought the tenseness from my first visit was long settled.
K: No, it's nothing like that. It's just that my parents will be all over me today.
A: ?
K: How should I break this news?
A: What news?
K: It's the anniversary of my day of birth.
A: IT'S YOUR BDAY???!!! :O
K: Yeah...
A: WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US! ;^;
A: It's time to report this to the big chat, ASAP!
K: No, wait.
K: I don't want them to know yet.
K: They're already preoccupied with Antonio's birthday for tomorrow. I have the dance today as a coincidental celebration thing, sort of.
A: Hmph! Fine, but I won't keep it hidden forever. >:D
K: Get some sleep
A: Nah I can't manage to
K: I can't either, that's why I'm up.
A: I'm gonna check the group chat and see who's awake. I'll keep your secret for now.

I switch to the other conversation. I can't believe I let it slip that it's my birthday! And to Alfred! I'm never going to hear the end of it.

I smile to myself and put my cell phone back on my desk. I'm really worn out. Unfortunately, I have to get up again at six to prepare for school. But despite it all, I get the feeling that this is going to be a really good birthday.
