Chapter 3

"Are you freaking kidding me?" was the first thing I heard Grayson say when I walked into the apartment. He was talking on the phone, looking quite angry. "I'm your cousin, Elliot. You should have told me before announcing it online. What, did you announced it online before telling your dad?....That's not the point! I would have like to know before people who aren't even related to you...." He saw me standing by the doorway, looking concerned. However, he kept freaking out at Elliot. "How would you feel if the roles were reversed? What if I announced mine online before telling you?....Yeah, exactly....Fine, hang up. See if I care."

"Is everything okay?" I asked once Grayson hung up his phone.

"Nope, not at all," he said. "Elliot decided to announce something on Facebook before telling me about it. A lot of people that aren't even related to her found out before me."

"What did she announce?" I asked as I walked over to him.

       "She got engaged," Grayson said.

I couldn't help but smile. "Aww, really? That's amazing!"

"No, it's not," Grayson said. "She never told me about it. I go on Facebook only to see that she is engaged to Laughlin. Neither of them called to tell me about it."

I gave him a fake pout. "Are you a grumpy cat?" I asked.

Grayson scowled. "Funny. I wish she told...." Not wanting to hear him complain anymore, I reached up and pulled him down to me, pressing my lips on his. When I pulled away, he cleared his throat. "Thank you for shutting me up. I'm gong to take a nap."

"Okay," I said. "I'll wake you when it's dinner." I gave him another kiss before he went to our bedroom.

I pulled out my cell phone and called Elliot. "Hello?" she answered.

       "Elliot, congratulations!" I said.

"Thank you," she said and I could tell she was smiling. "Did Grayson tell you?"

"Yeah, I came home to him arguing with you," I said. "I can't believe you and Laughlin are getting married. That's amazing! When did you get engaged?"

"A few hours ago," Elliot said. "He took me to a special place he showed me a bit before we started dating and proposed to me. I still can't believe it. Everyone's telling us that we're too young, but we love each other."

"Honestly, I didn't even think about your ages," I said. Elliot was my age, eighteen, and Laughlin was Grayson's age, nineteen. "And even of you are young, I know you'll last."

"Thank you," Elliot said. "It's nice to hear that after a lot of people say we are too young. They still congratulate us, though. Oh, I was planning on calling you anyway. Would you like to be the maid of honor?"

"Really?" I asked with a smile. "But what about Mary?" Mary was Elliot's best friend.

Elliot sighed. "She isn't that comfortable being part of the wedding. She'll still attend, but she said she can't be the maid of honor or even a bridesmaid. She was completely fine with me dating Laughlin after they broke up, but now that we are getting married, it's a bit uncomfortable for her."

"Oh, I get it," I said. "In that case, I'd love to be the maid of honor."

"Great!" Elliot said. "Laughlin's going to ask Grayson to be the best man, by the way. After he calms down that is."
