Chapter 27
I hated university.
Okay, I didn't mind going to my classes since I was studying to be something I loved. But I hated waking up early for class. I hated walking all the way to campus, even though it was a five minute walk. But there was something I hated the most. What was it? Oh, yeah.
The stupid, judging, gossiping people.
I was sitting on the bench outside since I didn't have a class for the rest of the day. I decided to wait for Grayson to finish his class, which would take about an hour, but I felt like waiting for him.
Thalia walked up to me when Grayson's class was about to be finished and sat down beside me. "Hey," she said. "How are you?"
"I'm good," I said with a smile.
"Then I'm guessing you haven't heard," she said with a sigh.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "Heard what?"
"There's a rumor going around," Thalia said. "A lot of people are saying that you got knocked up at a party and that Grayson thinks the baby is his when it really isn't."
I blinked a few times, trying to process what she just said. "Wait," I said. "A lot of people know I'm pregnant?"
"Apparently," she said. "Almost every corner of the school, people are talking about how Grayson's girlfriend is pregnant and the baby isn't his."
I sighed and rubbed my forehead. "Why do people like spreading rumors?" I hated that people knew I was pregnant, but it was going to happen eventually. I knew I wouldn't have been able to hide it any longer.
"I have no idea," Thalia said. "I know I've done it in the past, but this is university. Everyone should just grow up and mind their on business."
"Exactly," I said. "We're not in high school anymore and everyone should just stop gossiping." Even in high school, people shouldn't be gossiping.
"Do you have an idea about who could have started the rumor?" Thalia asked. "I know you haven't told much people and the only way someone could tell that you're pregnant is if they actually know. It's more noticeable because I know about it."
I scoffed. "I have a pretty good idea about who started it." I had a feeling Mina was behind all of this, even though a few days ago, Grayson made it very clear that he was the father and we were each other's first.
Besides, the only party I ever went to was the one I went with Grayson the day before we found out I was pregnant. And I stayed with him the whole time. I did go to another one, but that was to only pick up Grayson when he was drunk.
No offense to all these people, but how did they even get into university if they were stupid enough to believe that rumor?
"I honestly think I have an idea of who it was as well," Thalia. "There's this girl who seemed to be saying a huge story about how you being pregnant with another guy's baby. She lives on the same floor as me in the dormitory and I don't really like her."
"Is her name Mina?" I asked.
Thalia nodded. "Yeah. Is that who you think started it?"
"Definitely," I said. "And now that I know she was saying a huge story, it's definitely her. She called me a whore a few days ago and Grayson snapped at her and told her he is the father. She knows I don't even go to parties, so...."
"Who the hell started the rumor?!" a voice suddenly yelled. Thalia and I both looked towards the main building where a huge group of students were. And Grayson was one of them.
"And there is trouble," Thalia said. "Note to self, don't mess with Grayson."
"Tell me about it," I said. "I should go calm him down before he explodes. Thank you for telling me about the rumor, by the way. I'd rather hear it from a friend than a random person."
"No problem," Thalia said. "If you ever need someone to talk to, I'll be here."
I gave her a smile before I quickly made my way to the group of students.
"I'm not going to ask again," I heard Grayson say. "Who the hell thinks they have the right to start a damn rumor about me and my girlfriend?"
"What rumor?" a random guy asked. "About how your girlfriend is basically a whore and got knocked up by another guy? I doubt it's a rumor if everyone is talking about it."
"Call her a whore one more time, I dare you," Grayson snapped, his eyes staring coldly at the guy.
"Grayson," I said. He looked my way, as did the other student. "Come on. Let's go home."
"You're still with her?" the guy asked. "What kind of person will date a whore?"
"I swear, you better run before I smash your fu---," Grayson began, but I quickly interrupted him.
"Yeah, I'm a whore, sure," I said. "I literally do not care what you call me. If being a whore means having sex with my boyfriend one time, for the first time ever, and accidentally getting pregnant, then sure, I'm a whore. How old are you? Eighteen? Nineteen?"
"Twenty," the guy said.
"Oh, twenty," I said. "You're twenty and you're slut shaming a nineteen year old? You must feel very proud."
"You know what?" the guy began.
I didn't let him finish. "Whatever you have to say, I don't care. And just to clear everything up," I said, addressing everyone. "Grayson is the father. If you all want, I can take a paternity test and show you the results." Nobody said anything. "No? You don't care? That stop spreading the rumors around and grow up. Come on, Grayson."
Grayson, looking a bit shocked, nodded before following me. When we were out of ear shot from those people, Grayson asked, "Where on earth did all that confidence come from?"
"Honestly? I have no idea."
