Chapter 20
The buzzing of my alarm woke me up, causing me to groan loudly before I turned it off. I looked at the clock, seeing that it was half an hour to noon. Why would I set my alarm for eleven-thirty in the morning when it was winter break?
That was when it hit me. The ultrasound. The appointment was in two hours.
I sat up and looked over at my boyfriend, only to find him still sleeping with his adorable little snores. I never understood how he could sleep through the alarm on most days.
"Grayson," I said. He groaned a bit, but he didn't open his eyes. "Grayson."
"What?" he whined. "I'm trying to sleep."
"It's eleven-thirty," I said. "We need to get up."
"...Why?"
I sighed. He was always so oblivious when he was tired. "Because my ultrasound is in two hours. If we're lucky, we can find out the gender of our baby. Don't you want to know if you're going to get a daughter or a son?"
That got Grayson to open his eyes. "Of course I do, Flower, but it's too early."
"Too early?" I repeated. "Babe, like I said, it's eleven-thirty. It's almost noon."
"I like it when you call me babe."
I gave him a flat look. "Do you like to change topics? Please get up."
"I'll get up if you get up."
I sighed and pulled myself out of bed. "There. Now can you get up?"
Grayson closed his eyes and settles back into bed, turning so his back was facing me. "Twenty minutes," he muttered.
I didn't even bother trying to get him up. He never took too long to get ready anyway, so there was no harm in letting him rest for a bit longer while I made breakfast. Though, I did prefer him to make the breakfast because he was an amazing cook.
I went to the kitchen, looking in the fridge to see if there was anything I could make. In the end, I decided on scrambled eggs and sausages, something we normally had for breakfast.
When the sausage was sizzling on the oven, I was starting to get even more hungry. It was such a delicious smell and it didn't help that I was always hungry. I hated being all the time.
I blamed Grayson.
The breakfast was ready shortly, and Grayson was still in bed. I thought he would have been up when he smelled the sausage because that boy loved his meat; bacon and sausages especially.
I walked back to our bedroom and surprise, he was back asleep. So, I decided to be an awesome girlfriend.
And beat him with a pillow.
That woke him up and he pulled the pillow out of my hand. "Once, just once, can you wake me up without --without abusing me?"
I gave him a smile. "Nope. Breakfast is ready. I made sausages, I'm surprised you didn't smell them."
Grayson sat up, taking a good whiff of the air. "Oh, no, I smell them and damn, they smell good." He got out of bed and pulled me to the kitchen where the food was set at the table. When we were sitting down and eating, he looked at me. "So, let's say we don't find out what the gender is. How on earth will we know what to buy?"
