Chapter 69

Alexandria's POV

"Now." Lola said to me, standing there with her hands on her hips. "Don't forget to set the alarm."

"I won't." I told her quickly.

"And for god sake, don't forget to feed Pinkly." She hissed. "If something happened to that dog we'd all be in the shit."

"She'll be fine Lola." I assured her, Pinkly and I got on well. She was adorable. "I'll be fine."

"Will you?" She asked, pursing her lips. "I just worry about you."

"I'll be here." Sarah said, interrupting.

"But not at night."

"Lola." I sighed. "I'll be fine, honestly."

"Yeah." Sarah added. "You better go, Brian and Zack are starting to look pissed."

We all looked at the car. Zack was driving Lola and Brian to the airport, and Sarah was right, they were looking pissed.

"Lola, hurry the fuck up." Brian yelled and Lola looked at me, rolling her eye's.

"Okay." She said hugging me. "Be safe and I'll see you next Saturday morning."

I hugged her back, nodding.

"And." She said turning to Sarah. "If anything happens to her I'm holding you responsible." And with that she ran down the stairs and jumped into the car.

"Well." Sarah said, closing the door and heading into the kitchen. "Now she's gone let's have a coffee."

I nodded, following her and helping her make them, when they were done we grabbed them and took them into the living room, sitting on the sofa.

"So Alex." She said smiling at me. "How are you really doing?"

I looked at her and shrugged. I wanted to say terrible, I was doing horrible, somedays I just wanted to die, but I didn't, I knew she would just worry about me. "I've been better."

"But you caught the bouquet last night." She said quickly.

I looked at her. "So?"

"So, marriage."

"With who?" Because if I remembered rightly the guy I actually was in love with had a date at the wedding last night.

"Alex." She said softly and honestly I didn't want to hear it. I was sick of hearing about how everything would be okay, because frankly it wasn't going to be okay, I'd pushed Matt away and he'd moved on, that wasn't okay.

"I'll be fine Sarah." I said shortly. "I just need time but I will be okay."

"He loves you." She blurted.

"Well he has a strange way of showing." I snapped. "Anyway, no more, I'm done with Matt, he has another girlfriend so I'm moving on and I'd appreciate it if you would stop brining him up."

She looked at me with wide eye's. "My god Alex." She said smiling. "I love it when you get all bossy."

I shook my head at her but thank goodness she gave up the subject of Matt because I really was over it. Just thinking about him hurt me and I missed him, so very much, but I'd learn, eventually I would get over him. Hopefully.

We spent the day laying around  the pool and talking, about her wedding, not Matt, thank the lord. It was nice and later Zack came back over and he brought us pizza, so we sat around eating pizza and watching movies. Just the three of us. And then I got depressed again because there was three of us.

Would I ever be happy?

Eventually Sarah and Zack went home and as they drove away I locked the door and armed the alarm, it was late and I was ready for bed.

"Toilet?" I asked Pinkly who was standing there looking at me, I kind of wished she would talk back because already I felt alone.

I took Her Majesty out back to the toilet then I locked up, heading to my room. I got changed, brushed my teeth and climbed into bed, the bed where Pinkly had already made herself at home on.

"Move over." I whispered and she moved a little, only a little, she liked to sleep curled up against me and honestly I liked it anyway.

I laid there for awhile thinking and of course I was thinking about Matt. I missed him so much and yesterday, well yesterday he looked so damn handsome in his suit and it hurt to see him and not touch him. I missed touching him, holding him, I missed the sex, who would ever have thought that I'd miss sex, but I did, I missed the sex Matt and I had, I missed Matt, I missed everything about him.

I wiped my face and rolled over. It was no surprise I was crying again, I was beginning to think I would cry like this for the rest of my life and once again I found myself wondering if the hurt would ever go away, if the pain of not having Matt would dwindle.

I eventually fell asleep, but I didn't sleep for long because a little while later a noise woke me up. I opened my eye's and it took me a moment to realise that the noise was Pinkly, she was growling quietly and standing on the edge of my bed.

I sat up, putting my hand on her and shushing her quietly and it was then I noticed the light, it was dim, but there was definitely a light shining elsewhere in the house and I know I turned everything off.

Pinkly growled softly again and I gathered her into my arms as I got out of the bed. I opened the door and listened. Yes, it sounded like someone was in the kitchen and Pinkly growled again, letting me know she heard it to. I couldn't put Pinkly down, because if something happened to her Brian would never forgive me, so I held her close to me and stepped into the hallway.

It couldn't be Brandon, surely if he was out of jail the police would have alerted me, wouldn't they?

I felt fear grip my chest as I crept quietly down the hall and as I neared the front entrance I noticed an umbrella sitting by the door. I grabbed it quickly and turned towards the kitchen, where, yes, the light was on.

As I started creeping towards the kitchen Pinkly whimpered and started wiggling, I couldn't keep a hold of her and she slipped out of my arm's, landing on the floor growling. She took a quick glance at me then charge into the kitchen barking and I ran after her, swinging the umbrella.

I couldn't see who it was, all I could her were muffled cries and Pinkly barking and growling.

I did the only thing I could. I started hitting them as hard as I could with the umbrella. Even when they cried out for me to stop, I just kept on hitting them.
