Chapter 24

Matt's POV

I closed my eye's. I just wasn't feeling it today and I'd suggested to the guy's we finish early. I guess they weren't feeling it either, because they were all quick to agree.
I was just listening to Brian, attempting for the 8th time to get a part right when my phone rang.
I pulled it out of my pocket, looking at the number. I didn't recognize it at all.
"Hello?"
"Would I be able to speak to Matthew please?" A lady asked.
"Speaking."
"Oh Matthew, my name is Karen Luskin."
"Yes." I said watching Lola walk towards me.
"I'm Alexandria's therapist."
Fuck. "Is she okay?"
"Oh yes of course, she's doing great." She said. "I didn't mean to alarm you. Anyway I'm calling to see if you wouldn't mind coming in and seeing me. Alex tallks about you alot and I'd like to put a face to the name."
"Ah yeah I guess." I said smiling. Smiling at the fact Alex talked about me.
"Great. Tomorrow at 2pm?"
"Not a problem." I agreed.
I hung up as Lola spoke. "You'll never guess who called me?" She asked.
"Karen the therapist."
"What." She said looking confused. "She called you too?"
I nodded. "She did. I'm seeing her tomorrow."
"Why does she want to see us?"
I opened my mouth, but before I could answer the door flew open and Alex entered, looking terrified.
She looked around frantically until she saw me, then her face crumpled.
"Alex." Lola cried, walking towards her.
I didn't mean to but I shoved Lola out of the way, reaching Alex first.
"Alex?" I asked softly.
She shook her head, wiping her face and I pulled her into my arms. Fuck, I needed to stop doing that, but I wanted her to feel safe, especially with me.
"I saw him." She whispered.
"Where?"
"Out the front of my therapists office."
I tightened my arms. I could feel her shaking. "What did he do?"
"He said he wanted to talk but I just drove away as fast as I could."
"That fucking prick." Lola snapped.
"That's good." I murmured softly against her ear.
She nodded against my chest.
"Yeah well." Lola said, pulling a face at me. "I dare him to come near when one of us is around."
I rolled my eye's. I really wished Lola would stop disapproving of my relationship with Alex. We were friends. Only I wished we weren't, I guessed that was what Lola was disapproving of.
"Well." I said quietly. "We're nearly finished here then Lola can take your car and you can come with me." I felt her nod against my chest. "We'll go home."
"Everyone can come over." Lola suggested and I felt Alex nod again.
I kind of wished they wouldn't come over. I kind of just wanted to hang with Alex.
"We can go if you like." I murmured to Alex.
She pulled back, looking up at me. "I'll just use the bathroom first."
And I nodded, watching her walk off.
"Matt." Lola hissed. "You need to stop."
"Actually." Sarah said walking over to us. "You need to stop. Alex trusts Matt and as far as I'm concerned that's huge, that she actually trusts a man."
"What would you know." Lola snapped.
"I know that you need to leave them alone." Sarah said quietly. "What will be will be."
I smiled. Sarah was right. Alex did trust me and I liked that thought alot.
"Ready?" I asked Alex as she walked back out. She smiled and nodded.
"We won't be far behind." Sarah told her as Alex hugged her.
"Matt will look out for you." Lola said softly and I smiled again.
We walked towards the door and I held it open for her. Once we were outside I noticed her glancing around nervously and I guessed she was looking for him.
"Relax." I said putting my arm around her and pulling her into my side. That prick would have to go through me first.
"Thanks Matt." Alex said yet again on the drive back to the house.
"Please stop thanking me."
She smiled and I smiled back. She really didn't need to thank me.
We got home, walking inside and turning off the alarm.
"Drink?" Alex asked me.
I nodded and went into the entertainment room, flicking on the television.
"You know." Alex said as she walked back in, she handed me a drink and sat down next to me. "I kind of wish they weren't all coming over."
"Well they don't have to Alex." I told her. "I mean if you need some time to yourself."
She smiled at me, moving closer and putting her head on my shoulder. "I kind of like when it's just me and you."
I smiled and fuck it, I leant over and kissed her forehead.
I kind of liked when it was just me and her too.
