Matt's POV
I pulled back the covers, urging Pinkly to make room and climbed into the bed. I got comfortable then closed my eye's. It felt good. I could feel Alex next to me and I realised how much I missed it, missed her.
I laid there for awhile, listening to Alex sleep, then I turned over onto my side, looking at her. I was tired, but I just wanted to look at her awhile, so I laid there watching her sleep. I could look at her all day and I knew then that I wanted to look at her for the rest of my life, I couldn't imagine not looking at her, just these few weeks had been hell enough for me, I didn't want to do it anymore.
I finally closed my eye's and reached out, putting my arm across her waist and letting myself drift, but just before I drifted off I felt Alex move slightly and grab my hand, squeezing it gently. I moved closer to her, settling into sleep.
Jesus her alarm was annoying and when the harsh beeping started I was pissed off. Not because I'd been woken up, but because I was comfortable. I was snuggled into Alex, I had a leg entwined with hers, my arm across her waist and my face buried in her neck. I kind of didn't want her to move. Ever.
She apologised then climbed out of bed and I laid there with my eye's closed, missing her, listening to her shower. I tried to fall back asleep but I couldn't and I heard Alex come back into the room to get dressed. I kind of wanted to peak but I thought I better not, she might not appreciate it.
Just before she left I heard her approach the bed then I felt her lips on my forehead, kissing it softly. I wanted to reach up, wrap my arm's around her and pull her down into bed and kiss her, kiss her properly, kiss her softly and kiss her for hours, but I didn't, I just turned slightly and watched her leave the room, still feeling her kiss on my forehead.
I heard her car start up and leave then I turned over, looking at Pinkly.
"Do you think she still loves me?" I asked her and she just glanced at me, paying me no attention.
I laid there for a little while longer then I got up and showered. I grabbed a coffee then took Pinkly out the back, sitting there, drinking my coffee, thinking about Alex.
We needed to talk, we really did. I needed to sit her down, tell her exactly how I felt and I guess we both needed to explain a few things. Her, why she broke up with me in the first place, and me, about why I went on dates. Those dates were the stupidest thing I'd ever done and I really hoped it wouldn't affect Alex and I, I really did.
"I'm an idiot." I said out loud to Pinkly. She stopped sniffing the grass and looked at me. "Ugh, I think I want to marry her." Pinkly yipped and ran to me. I guess she knew a good idea when she heard it. "You agree?" I asked, reaching down to pet her. "Do you think she'd say yes?" I asked and she yipped again.
I smiled. If Pinkly agreed it had to be a good idea.
I was still sitting out the back when I heard Alex's car pull up and I didn't realise I'd been out here, thinking, telling Pinkly about my plan's for as long as I had been.
I stood up and headed inside and arrived at the kitchen just as Alex walked in, carrying a couple of bags.
"Have you had breakfast?" She asked, placing them on the counter.
"Not yet." I said softly. "I thought I'd wait for you."
She nodded and started pulling things out of the bag's. "Go relax, I'll cook and bring it out to you."
"I'll help." I offered. I wanted to help, I just wanted to spend time with her.
"Okay." She said, handing me a carton of eggs. "You can do the eggs."
I nodded. I could do that. "How do you want them done?"
"Surprise me." She said softly and I smiled, grabbing a bowl.
We were quiet for awhile, me doing the eggs, Alex, cooking bacon and making waffles, but it was a comfortable silence, not strained.
While the eggs were cooking I put on the coffee and turned just in time to see Alex lick her finger's, smiling. Her beautiful smile.
"I missed you." I blurted, looking at her.
Alex looked at me and her eye's were wide and she looked like she might cry. "Matt." She said, her voice barely a whisper. "I missed you."
And the fucking doorbell rang. I was going to kill whoever was the on other side, I really was.
"I'll get it." I said to Alex, walking out to the door, throwing it open to reveal Zack and Sarah standing there.
"Matt." Sarah said, looking shocked. "What are you doing here?"
"Staying." I mumbled as they pushed past me, heading into the kitchen.
"Fuck." Zack said, turning to look back at me. "I love Alex's cooking and I'm starving."
I followed them into the kitchen feeling pissed off. They were obviously going to stay and I didn't want them to, I just wanted to talk to Alex, spend the day with her.
Would we ever sort this out?
