Chapter 4

Catherine's POV
"How are you planning on getting him out?"I asked
"We're going to carry him" Alby said
"Why is he acting like this?" I say
" well you see Catherine Ben here was a runner He was Minho's partner until he got stung by a griever" said Alby
" A griever?" I said
" yes they are  creatures that roam the maze and once you get stung your a goner" Said alby
" how did Ben get in here?" Said Thomas walking towards us with Jessica
" we don't shucking know! Now help us take him to the maze before the gates close" said Minho sternly
Jessica's POV
As  we were finishing the tour Thomas told me to follow him to go with the others.
" how did Ben get in here?" Said Thomas
" we don't shucking know! Now help us take him to the maze before the gates close " said the Asian looking boy
As they took Ben to the maze I went over to Catherine to see if she knew why the kid was acting vicious.
" hey do you know why he is acting this way?" I said
" they said he got stung by a griever" said Catherine
" you mean the creatures that are in the maze?" I said
" yeah how do you know" said Catherine
" Thomas told me while he was giving me the tour" I said
" so how's it going with you and Thomas?" She said while giving me a smirk
" what do you mean"? I said
" cmon I see the way you look at him you clearly like him" she said
" ok fine I do it's just I don't want to tell him because what if he doesn't like me back" I said
" are you blind! Your like super pretty he will definitely like you!!" She said
"I really can't see myself but look at him! not happening I don't think we are good together.... Anyways what about you and newt.....I could tell you like him"
"Yeah but eh.....I don't think he likes me" She said
"You are extremely gorgeous of course he does!" I said
"Like you said I haven't seen myself" she said
"You don't need to see yourself to see your beautiful , you are" I said
" Thanks " she said
A few seconds later the doors to the maze started closing.
The boys were all around Ben. While Newt Thomas and the cute Asian guy were pulling him beyond those walls.
A few minutes later they managed to get Ben out of here then the doors closed.
Me and Catherine were on the wooden tower up high.
" You guys gonna come down? It's time for dinner" Newt said approaching with Thomas.
"Sure" Cathy said
"I'm not quite hungry " I said "I'll say up here for tonight"
"You sure?" Thomas said
"Yes" I said
"Ok" He said
Newts POV
As Catherine came down me and her and Thomas went to the home stead to eat dinner.
"Welcome take a seat" Alby said as we entered
"Where is the other girl?" Gally said
"She wasn't hungry" Thomas said as he took a seat
*A few minutes later into eating*
We were taking and a few minutes later Thomas left.
"Alby don't you thinks it's a little strange to have here 2 girls up at the same time?" Gally said
"It's quite odd but I don't think it's bad" he said "Gally have you build the wall in the big room?"
" I finished half of the wall but I need a bit more"
"You think you can finish it by today?"
"I'll try to"
"You can work on it durning the bonfire tonight?"
" yeah"
"Chuck you can put a few hammocks in there for them can you?"Alby asked
"Yes I can" Chuck said with a mouth full of food
"So Catherine any jobs here your interested in? " Alby asked
Before Catherine answered Minho decided to speak.
"I think she should be a runner I saw her running on the woods she is good"
"Hmm runner" Alby thought " I guess she can-
" I don't think she should be a runner it's to dangerous" I cut Alby off
"Newt she is the material we need" Minho said
" Didn't you hear me it's to dangerous she doesn't know what's out there!" I said as I stood up and punched my fist on the table.
" Do you even know what's out there?!" Catherine said as she stood up using the same tone I used
"No but your a girl you can't be out there!" I said looking at her
"Newt calm down" Alby said
"Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I can't be out there"She said making a point
"You know what make her a runner! Do what you want I'm out" I said as I grabbed my plate and placed it on another table and stormed off.
Cathys POV
As Newt stormed off I was going to go after him, but a hand grabbed my arm and didn't let me go. It was Minho.
" Leave him he needs to calm down"
"Ok"
"Well what are we waiting for let's start the bonfire" Alby shouted, the whole crowd of boys went by me and Minho, leaving outside.
"What's wrong with Newt" I asked
"Let's say he's not used to not getting stuff his way"
"Oh"
"You wanna go outside?"He asked
"I'm alright" I said and with that he walked away.
I stayed inside thinking for a while. And I'm gonna prove Newt wrong, I could handle what's outside.
Jessica's POV
I stayed in the tower for a few hours I was sitting watching the boys do the bonfire I them heard footsteps behind me. I turned around grabbed the persons foot and pulled it causing the person to fall to its back.
"Ow" the voice said then I recognized it and it was Thomas.
"Oh my god I am so so sorry just thought you were someone else- "It's ok......I'm ok" He Said
"I'm very sorry" I said
"I said its ok" He said as he stood up.
"What are you doing up here" I asked
"I brought you some food" he said handing me a bag which I opened and had food inside.
" I said I wasn't hungry" I said
"I know but you got to eat something........here at least eat the bread" he said handing me the bread. I backed away a little. "Cmon do it for me" he said
"Fine" I said grabbing the bread
I ate the bread.
"Happy now?" I said as I finished
"Satisfied" he said smiling "well I have to get going. I have to look for newt and then join the bonfire your welcome to attend"
"Bye" I said
"Bye Greenbean" He said and left
Catherine POV
I went outside and saw the bonfire started with the all the boys around it. I then saw Thomas and Newt coming in from the woods.
The boys finished the celebrating then Gally started wrestling some of the boys. I was looking at then when I felt a pair of eyes on me. I looked around to see Newt staring at me. As soon as I saw him he looked away.
A few seconds later Thomas came and sat next to me.
"So Newt told me what happened" He said
"What that he thinks I'm not good enough to be a runner just because I'm a girl ?"
"He never said that"
"He was assuming that"
"No he wasn't he was saying that it was too dangerous for you to be out there!" He exclaimed "trust me I've been out there it's not nice"
"Your just trying to make me change my mind! But I'm not"
"I'm going whether you'll like it or not" I said a little louder looking at Thomas and Newt the walked away.
Thomas POV
As Catherine stormed away. Newt came and sat next to me.
"Now I know why WCKD didn't send any girls up here before" he said
