Chapter 8

~2 weeks later~
Catherine's POV
*Next Morning*
I woke up to the sound of the box coming up. I ran out side and saw that the boys were all crowding around the box.
"Hey what are you doing standing up!?" I heard Newt behind me.
"What do you mean standing up?"
"Your leg" he said
"What about....oh....Omg!" I said
"It healed!" He said even more excited than I was for my leg.
"It's did" I said "whats going on?"
"We don't know, the box is coming up" He said as we walked towards the box.
"It might be a new greenie" I heard a distant voice say
It took a few minutes for the box to open, the box opened revealing one body, nothing else.
"It's a girl!" I heard Newts voice say from inside the box
Another girl?
"Get her out of there" Gally said
"Another girl?" Jessica's voice said from behind me.
"That's what I was thinking"
"I think she is dead" said Newt.
Me and Jess made our way towards the front of the box.
"She's dead?" I asked
" I think" said Newt
All of a sudden the girls shot up from the position she was in, causing some of us to back off. The only words she said were "Thomas" before she passed out again.
"Thomas do you recognize her?" Newt asked.
"No not at all" said Thomas as he went down the box.
" Well she seemed to recognize you" Newt said looking at Thomas
"I swear I don't shucking know her.....if I did I would've said something" Thomas shot back.
"Let's get her out of here"
Thomas and Newt got the girl out and the Medjacks took her to the building.
"Time for breakfast! Everyone get to eat" said Alby.
I went to go get breakfast since Jessica disappeared somewhere.
"Hey " Chuck said as he approached me.
"Hey"
"Can I sit with you for breakfast?" He asked
"Yeah sure"
We got in line to be served breakfast when I got time the front of the line it saw Jessica was serving lunch.
"You want bagels or eggs with bacon?" She asked
"I'll get bagels and bacon" I said
"Ok.....and I will join you in a bit" She said as she served me food.
I nodded and walked away with Chuck.
We sat down and ate a few minutes later Jessica joined us.
"Hey guys" She said
"Hey" We smiled.
"I'm gonna go get more food I'll be back" Chuck said and walked away.
"Hey remember the thing we talked about a few weeks ago?" I asked
"The escape thing?" She said
"Yeha.... but not like that I was thinking maybe we can go tomorrow"
"Tomorrow that's to soon!" She said
"No it's not we're going" I said
"Fine....do you even remember the pathway?"
"No.....buuuttt Minho has the map he took the day if we find it we can go"
"but we find the paper today.... How are we going to get into the maze without getting caught by Minho or Newt or Thomas or anyone.???"
"I'll invent some excuse or something"
"Ok"
"Hey girls" Newt said as he approached us
"Hey" I said as I smiled at him
"Mind if I sit here"
"Not at all " I said and he sat next to me
"Hey guys I'm back" said chuck and sat beside Jessica
"Do you guys know where's Thomas?" Jessica asked
"He has been in the medjacks room with the new girl, all bloody morning since she came, the medjacks said she's supposedly in a coma " said Newt
before taking a bite of my bacon.
"Oh ok" she said then took a bite of her food.
After a few seconds I felt Newt grab my hand from under the table, intertwining my fingers with his.
"Do you guys ever think of Gally's eyebrows and unite them and think of them flying away from his forehead , and turn into a bird" says Chuck out of nowhere
We laughed.
"Your so mean chuck" Jessica said
"I heard that shuck face" Gally says as he approached us. He took a seat next to Jessica.
"It's true though" said Newt
We all laughed again.
"Talks Peter Pan" said Gally
We laughed at their insults
All morning we talked and laughed about stupid jokes. After breakfast everyone got back to their jobs but I went to the homestead.
After a long shower on the afternoon, I went too look for Jessica so we can talk about tomorrow. I looked around the glade not seeing her.
"Hey Chuck have you seen Jessica around here?" I asked as I approached the homestead.
"Last time I saw her she was making dinner"
"Ok thanks"
"Welcome"
I went to the kitchen too find her, but I only saw Frypan.
"Hey Fry.... have you seen Jessica around here?" I asked as he made some sauce.
"She was here a few minutes ago, she said she was going for a walk or something"
"Thanks" was all I said before I walked away.
Where in the bloody hell was she?
I walked outside the homestead to give one last look. As I observed the glade I noticed her talking with Gally.
"Where in the bloody hell were you?!" I said as I walked towards her.
"I was just talking with Gally for a few minutes" She said
"Cmon lets talk about tomorrow" I said
"Ok......... Gally I'll see you later"
"Ok" he smiled and we walked away.
We went to the homestead and went in our room.
" let's talk about tomorrow" She said as she sat down in her hammock. She didn't sound enthusiastic.
"So were gonna need water, a book bag, one for each of us so 2, running shoes and the map from the day I killed the Griever and to get most of that stuff we have to go into the map room, and Minhos key to it "
"How in the shucking world are we gonna get the key"
"There is only 4 people that have the key to the map room and that's Alby, Newt, Minho and Thomas..... and you can get it from Thomas " I said hoping she accepted the offer
"What why me from Thomas? You can get it from Newt also"
"But isn't Thomas your bloody boyfriend?"
"Maybe but that doesn't mean that I have to get it"
"Please can you just get the keys I'll do everything else"
"Fine" She said taking a deep breath.
"Thank you so much"
"Let's go get us the keys" I said walking towards the door.
"Here we go"
Jessica's POV
"Where is Thomas anyways?" I asked Cat as we walked out the homestead.
"He is probably with the medjacks" said Cathy as we approached their nursery.
"Cmon go get them I'll be waiting out here" she said before I walked in there.
I walked in and the first room was empty I approached the next room , and that's where Thomas and the girl were.
The girl was sleeping in the bed and Thomas on a chair in the corner of the room. I could hear his light snores coming out of his mouth. He looked adorable. I walked towards Thomas and looked for the keys carefully. I checked his pockets and he has nothing. All of a sudden he took a deep breath and turned his hips to get comfortable, I then heard the sound of a jingle behind him. I looked behind him and I saw the keys attach to the loop if where his belt was. I gently took them off and walked outside.
"Did you get them?" Cathy asked as soon as she saw me.
"Here" I handed them to her.
"Cmon lets go" he said a she took ahold of my arm and we walked towards the woods.
We walked toward the middle of the woods, where I saw a little house more like a hut made out of wooden sticks and logs , with an iron door.
Cat approached the door and tried every key to open it , the 4th key opened it.
As soon as we walked in the aroma of sweat and wood filled my nostrils.
"It smells" I said as I pinched my nose
"Focus cmon help me look for the maps they have to be around here somewhere"
"You should maybe look in that box that says Maps..... I'll look for book bags and running shoes" I said
"Ok" was all she says before opening the box and looking for the map.
I looked around and a box on the floor caught my eye. I got down on my knees and opened it, it contained shoes.
"Bingo..... I found the shoes"
"I have mine just get some for you"
I looked around the box for some shoes that looked my size. They were all big. I digged more around the box, I found some shoes that looked my size. I tried them on and the fitted alright. They were a bit too big though. After that I looked around for some book bags.
"Do you also have your book bag or do I get you one ?" I asked
"I need one" she said
"Ok" I said and walked towards a closet.
I looked around the closet to only see shirts, sweaters and jackets. I looked more and I found only one spare bag.
"I only found one" I said
"With that will be fine" she said "Found it I found it I found the map"
She then walked towards me with a paper in her hand.
"Cmon lets go" I said and we walked away.
"Here the keys" she tossed them to me
I catched them and we walked towards the homestead.
"Give me the stuff you go take the keys back before he notices their gone"
I handed her the stuff and walked towards the nursery. I walked in the first room was empty the next one was Thomas and the girl. I stopped before entering the second room.
"Jeff have you seen my keys?" I heard Thomas
"No I haven't" he said and walked my way.
"Hey Jess" he said as he saw me
"Hey" j smiled before he left out if the room.
"Hey I think these are your keys I found them outside" I lied as I walked in to the room Thomas was in.
"Oh my god.... Thank you" he says as he took them off my hand.
"Welcome" I said
I walked out of the nursery and walked towards the homestead. I walked into mine and Cat's room and threw myself in the hammock.
"Get a good night sleep day....big day tomorrow" said Catherine.
