They opened the door to the shop and a little bell rang.
"Hello customers," said a man from behind the counter. The shop itself was fairly average. It was six meters by five meters with a back storage room behind the counter. It was the stuff for sale that made the shop special. Isles of potted plants and animal parts pickled in jars filled the shelves. Boxes were stacked on shelves around the walls. Intricate devices were neatly placed on shelves behind the counter. The weirdest thing wasn't even the fact that the man behind the counter was wearing and evening tuxedo. It was the fact he had a spider monkey sitting on his shoulder. The counter man had curly blond hair and grey eyes.
"How may I help today?" asked the man.
"We're looking for Simia," replied Anne.
"Well your talking to him," said Simia as if it were obvious.
"Oh, well we have a parcel from Katie," said Anne a little abashed, pulling the parcel out of their bag.
"Ah, I was wondering when she was going to get that to me. Put this in the back for me, please," said Simia. Canis couldn't tell who he was talking to until the spider monkey grabbed the parcel and ran into the back.
"Can I interest you in anything," asked Simia.
"Do you have any tents," asked Ferre
"Oh yes I have-," but he never finished the sentence because Passerie had spun around knife drawn yelling,
"Don't even think about it monkey." The spider monkey lost its grip on the beam its tail was clinging to and fell to the ground with a loud thump. Shrieking at the top of its voice the monkey ran behind the counter and climbed onto its owners shoulder.
" What's the matter," asked Anne puzzled
"That dirty rotten monkey was trying to pickpocket me," said Passerie outraged.
"He wasn't trying to pickpocket you dear. He probably just saw something intriguing in your pocket and wanted to see it,"
"Yea right. Next thing you're going to tell that the grass is blue and the sky is green. I going to wait outside." said Passerie in a very annoyed tone.
"Sorry about that she's not exactly a social butterfly," apologized Canis.
"Well we were talking about tents," said Simia as if nothing had happened.
"Yes, one single person tent please, sir," asked Ferre very politely.
"Very well," Simia came out from behind the counter and walked down one of the isles. A few minutes past when he came back with a bundle of canvas and some tent pegs.
"This will be eight gold coins," said Simia. Ferre placed eight gold coins on the counter and they turned to walk out the store when Simia called.
"That is a single person tent and I'm no mathematician but there is four of you," said Simia with a curious look on his face.
"Well I believe this is one thing that is none of your business," said Ferre cooly and they all walked out.
"What took all so long I've been bored out of my mind," said Passerie frustrated.
"Maybe if you kept your cool you wouldn't have been bored out of your mind," said Canis with the same frustrated tone.
"Whatever," said Passerie rolling her eyes which then fell on the tent "What's that," she said pointing at the tent.
"It's a tent, I thought Anne could sleep in it when I get cold," said Ferre.
"One, I thought we were on a low budget. Two, what about the rest of us," said Passerie indignantly.
"We the rest of us are Gente Animali you can sleep in one of the bags and Canis and I can sleep under some leaves or something," said Ferre in a matter-of-factly tone.
"Well when you two are done acting like five year olds the library is this way," said Anne pointing down the street.
"Then what are we waiting for lets go read some books," said Canis enthusiastically and walked down the busy street.
An/ So sorry for the wait and not much to show for it but I'll try to write faster hope you enjoyed.
