Devronica in MM

Devronica

My mom entered my room while I was packing. I was gonna miss her. "Hey momma, I'm just finishing up." She just stared at me.

"Good morning, baby girl. I'm about to leave for work."

My mom and dad works hard to keep this house together. Momma is a lawyer, and my dad is a carpenter. They bring a lot of money in, and make sure that we're stable. I pulled my mom into a hug. "I'm gonna miss you mom. I'll call you everyday , okay?"

"Be safe baby girl. I love you."

She kissed my forehead, and hugged me one more time. I waved goodbye as she walked out of my bedroom. My dad had already told me goodbye before he left for work last night. My phone rang, and I answered it. "Hello?"

"Roni, I'm outside. Hurry up before your flight leave," Micah said.

I grabbed all of my stuff, and turned off all the lights in the house. I ran to Micah's car, and gave him a quick hug.

"That's all I get? I'm hurt," he said while laughing.

I chuckled. "When we get to the airport, I'll give you a bigger hug."

The first few minutes of the ride was silent. "Are you gonna miss me," I said, breaking the silence.

"Of course I'm going to miss you. You'll be back though. Don't go down thea, and fall in love with Toronto. Dat mean you go wanna live there. Let em know you from the ghetto."

I actually am from the ghetto. We moved to the suburbs about 5 years ago. The people in the suburbs rubbed off on me in several ways. I don't show my accent, and my walked has changed. It took me almost 2 years to perfect my walk. "Shutup, Micah. I wouldn't abandon Louisiana for nobody. I'm gonna miss you too."

"Don't go looking at no nappy headed lil boy neither."

I laughed. "They ain't looking at me so, why you worried?"

"Dat's what you think. You beautiful. Dat's why all them girls be tripping. You have what they don't."

I playfully rolled my eyes. "If you say so."

30 minutes later, we arrived at the airport. Micah got out of the car, and grabbed my bags.

"C'mon befo this plane leave."

We hurried inside, and he set my bag down. I glanced at the door where I had to exit, then glanced back at Micah. He pulled me into a hug, and held me tight. "I'm gonna miss you, fathead. Tell Zay that I'm going to miss him to. Be good, and stay out of trouble."

"I'm going to miss you too witcho peanut ass head, and I'll try."

My flight was called. Micah kissed my forehead, and I went toward the entrance of the plane.

I had a seat in first class. My mom said she didn't want me flying in coach. I found my seat, and it was next to a guy who had tattoos all over his body. He looked up at me, and smiled. His teeth were perfect. I took my seat next to him.

"Hey, I'm August," he said with a thick New Orleans accent. I liked it.

"Well hey August, I'm Devronica, but my friends call me Roni."

"Nice ta meet ya Roni."

"Same to you," I said.

It was going to be a 2 hour and 42 minute flight. I took out my iPod to play some music, and realized that I didn't bring my headphones. I sucked my teeth, and slumped in my seat. August looked at me.

"What's wrong with you?"

"I forgot my headphones , so I'm going to be bored this whole flight."

He smiled. "You don't have ta be bored. You ca talk ta me."

"Alright then. Tell me about yourself."

"Well, I'm from Nawlins. I'm 17, a senior in high school, I live in Louisiana, play football, and I like ta eat."

I laughed at the last part. "Is that all you're going to tell me?"

"Nah. Afta you tell me sum bout you, I'll tell you sum mo bout me," he said.

"Okay. Well, I'm 17, a senior in high school, I live in Louisiana, I'm from Shreveport, I'm a cheerleader, and I love basketball."

He looked surprised. "Did I just hea you say dat you like basketball?"

"Yeah. Does that surprise you?"

"Hell yeah. You don't look like da typa girl ta like dat."

I playfully held my heart. "I'm appalled. What do you mean by that?"

He chuckled. "You seem like da girly girl type. You talk just like a white guh, too. People in Shreveport don't talk like dat."

"Nigga no I don't." I quickly covered my mouth, and looked around. August burst out laughing.

"Ole scary ass. You act like you just cursed the whole world out," he said while laughing.

I playfully shoved him.

He smirked. "Stop flirting with me la girl."

"Ain't nobody flirting witcho ugly ass," I said quietly while laughing. My accent had came out a little, but I didn't care, I was enjoying myself. I lied about him being ugly. He is fine.

"Yes you are, ugly," he said, playfully.

"Go to bed somewhere," I said, while resting my head in the seat. I was kind of tired.

"Thanks fa the advice cause dat's exactly what I'm about ta do," he said while turning over in his seat.
