When we entered the room, his dad and his grandmother were sitting in a long table, they were busy talking so they didn't notice we were in the room.

There were foods, fruits and different cocktails. May inilalagay pa ang ibang katulong nila at may waiter na nakatayo sa kabilang dulo, holding a tray. This family was really expensive. Hindi ko kayang makipagsabayan ngayon gabi. Mukhang nawala ang lahat na kinabisado ko.

Narinig kong bumukas muli ang pintuan sa likuran namin. Kumabog nanaman ang dibdib ko nang maamoy ko ang hindi familiar na pabango so I knew it was his mom.

I wanted to backout already! Lumakad siya sa harap namin and she was eyeing me sardonically. Tila ba gusto niya akong kainin ng buhay. Shit. Hindi ko pa naman pinipirmahan iyong kontrata, baka pwede pa umalis?! Hindi ko pa naman nasasabi kay Mr. Esqueza iyon dahil sobrang busy niya rin eh.

"Hello," she greeted me unsmiling. "You must be his wife, I'm Mikaela Esqueza, the mother."

She then gave me a gently hug but her facial expression wasn't changing. Kahit nangangatog, I did my best not to show how nervous I am right now.

"Nice meeting you po, t-tita," nauutal na saad ko. "I'm Irisian Marie Villafuente, uhm, Esqueza po. But you can call me Iris for short," ngiting bati ko sakanya.

"What family are you from?" she asked, rasing her brow. "You must be very special, my son married you in so much rush." Tumingin ito kay Mr. Esqueza. "Right, Zachary?"

Napatingin din ako kay Mr. Esqueza. His face was hard, unsmiling. "You know I value privacy as much as you do. If we invited you or not, it won't change the fact that we are married."

I laughed awkwardly dahil may nabubuong tensyon sakanilang dalawa. "We want to invite everyone but my husband informed me that you guys are very busy, tita." I held her hand, she was shocked at first and looked at it. "Pero don't worry naman po, we're planning to have a grand wedding. We'll invite as many people as possible, hindi ba, love?"

Mr. Esqueza blinked, his face surprised. Pinandilatan ko siya. Go with the flow kana, ikaw naman may gusto rin nito!

"Of course," he answered awhile. "It's just, I can't wait to marry her. I don't want to take risk and give other men the chance to court her. You know I'm possessive man, mother."

Tinanggal ko ang pagkakahawak sakanya nang tumawa siya ng mapakla. "You won't fool me," she whispered.

Hinila ako ni Mr. Esqueza papalapit sakanya as if protecting me from his own mother. Ano bang mayroon? Bakit tila ang lalim ng hidwaan nila?

"I'm not trying to prove a point to you. We're just having a conversation, mother. Don't flutter yourself." He then kissed the top of my hair. "Let's not be like this infront of my wife, I don't want to scared her either."

"Love..." pang-aalo ko para bumaling ang atensyon niya saakin.

"What a sweet couple!" sigaw ni Ashley mula sa likuran namin. Thank goodness. Kahit papaano nawala ang tensyon sa dalawa. She was holding a cake. "Isn't it, mom?"

Tumalikod na ang mommy nila tila walang narinig at dumiretso sa room kung saan labas-pasok ang mga katulong nila.

Ashley was giggling, ignoring her mother. "She can be very intimidating at times but don't worry, she'll like you eventually. She's just jealous that someone as prettier as you got the heart of his one and only son. Kahit siya mismo kasi hindi makuha-kuha ang puso nitong kapatid ko." She tapped Mr. Esqueza's shoulder.

"I'm not buying you any bags, Ashley," pang-aasar ni Mr. Esqueza.

"Aww, that's so sweet!" Irap nito sa kapatid at sumunod papasok kung saan pumunta ang mom nila.
