"It's a little late for that!" I shout as I hold up my knife.
(y/bff/n) stays still as I swing the knife into her back.
Her eyes open wide and look at me with tears filling them.
"L-look at wh-what y-you're doing. Th-this is not y-you..." she says as she begins to fall in my arms.
I hold her and think about what she said, what I did.
Am I really going to kill my friend?
Can I?
I don't know anymore!
I take her to her bed and lay her down on her stomach.
"F-finally, you've c-come to y-our s-senses." she stutters.
I leave the knife there, since taking it out can cause her to bleed to death.
(y/bff/n)'s parents pull in the driveway and I run to watch what happens from a tree.
I can hear (y/bff/n) scream as her parents rush into her room.
They begin talking, but her dad picks her up bridal style, and they rush out of the room.
The car starts as they drive away.
I run through the forest back to the mansion.
I go back into Toby's room and slide into the middle, between the boys.
I fall asleep.
That was emotionally draining!
I wonder if she'll make it between her rare disease and the stab wound, especially since she has to be on blood thinners because of her disease.
I awake to Toby and Jeff sitting up.
"So, how did it go?" Toby asks.
I stay silent.
It's bound to be on the news this morning!
"Um, (y/n)?"
"Oh, sorry. I want to watch the news when we get to your mom's house, if you don't mind." I state.
"That's fine, as long as she doesn't mind." Toby answers.
I change my clothes and we head to Toby's mom's house, our weapons in hand.
We have our weapons just in case we see something... fishy.
It's eight when we get there.
We knock, trying to be polite, but keep a weapon held tightly.
The woman who comes out has light brown hair that fit her complexion perfectly and beautiful green eyes.
She looks like someone who smiles a lot.
She has tears in her eyes.
Toby loosens his grip on his hatchet and so does Jeff with his knife.
I do, too.
"Toby!" the woman exclaims and hugs Toby.
"Mom..." he says, clearly embarrassed.
"Oh, stop it! I haven't seen you in weeks!" she cries.
She lets him go, looks over at Jeff and I, and freezes.
"Um, mom? You said I could bring friends, so here they are!"
"M-more murderers, how lovely." she gets out.
"Hello, Ms. Rogers!" I shout cheerfully.
She unfreezes and smiles.
"Please, call me Connie. Welcome! You're Jeff and (y/n), right? I heard about you on the news. Well, now that introductions are out of the way, why don't you come inside?" she greets.
We all walk inside.
"If you don't mind, I would like to watch the news." I state.
"Oh, that's fine. Just have a seat and I'll get you set up!" she says cheerfully.
We all sit down on the couch and Toby's mother, Connie, turns on the news.
While Jeff, Toby, and Connie talk, I watch the news closely, until the fated headline comes up: "Survivor of Another Attack".
I turn it up and everyone turns their attention.
"There was another attack, but the girl who goes by the name of (y/bff/n) lives to tell the tale." the newsman states.
They play a recording of (y/bff/n)'s voice.
She says, "I was attacked by (y/n). I heard the door open and thought it was my parents, since they had left to pick up my meds. I even looked out my door, but nobody was there. At that point, I thought it was my imagination. That is, until (y/n) walked into my room. I could only stare in shock at her. We actually talked for a few minutes, but man... was I scared. I remember every word of our conversation, every word. She said that she wasn't going to kill me, that she was going to come back one day with Jeff and Toby. I hugged her and got stabbed in the back. I looked at her and told her something. I began to get weak from the pain, but she held me up. (y/n) took me over to my bed and set me down. The knife was still in my back. I could tell it was intended. Then, she left."
"You were friends with (y/n), correct?" a voice asks.
"Yes." (y/bff/n) answers and it cuts off.
Toby and Jeff look at me.
Connie is still staring at the television.
She seems frozen again.
"That's what you set out to do last night?" Toby asks.
I nod.
"Well... I did not expect you to do that to someone who was your friend." Jeff states.
"Well, I didn't either, at least, without you guys around. My only thoughts are, 'Why didn't she call the police?'" I respond.
Toby looks over at his mother, who has gone pale.
"Mom?"
"I- May I ask, why did you do that to your friend?" she asks.
"She said she would take us to the police if she heard these two murdered anyone else. She wanted me to take them to the police instead of letting them meet my mother. I didn't want them to get the electric chair, so I went against her will. They took care of me." I say, blushing, remembering what happened during my first two days at the mansion.
"Then you killed that kid with my hatchet. She was trying to save you from this fate, (y/n). She thought you wouldn't be happy like this." Toby states.
"Well, she was wrong because I'm happier now than I could ever be! I may be wanted dead or alive, but I'm happy just being with the people I love."
"Wait, love?" Connie questions.
"Well... We kinda have an open relationship... Mom, I hope you approve." Toby responds.
"As long as you're happy, I guess I don't mind. It's still a lot for me to take in." she answers.
There's a knock at the door.
"We have to hide!" I whisper-shout.
"Go out the back door and hide in the woods. I'll get it." Connie states.
We run silently out the back door and wait for a signal saying it's safe.
After a few minutes, we see a police officer look out the door, but we're out of his line of vision.
Apparently, he left because Connie motions for us to come back in.
We sit back down on the couch.
"Somebody saw you come in." she says simply.
"We should go then..." Toby states.
"It's for your safety, madame." I agree.
She sighs and gives Toby a long hug.
"We'll come back some other day." he promises.
She shows us out and begins to cry.
I can hear Toby whisper, "I'm sorry." as we run back to the mansion.
