--- Safiya POV ---
"What do you mean you aren't going?" I responded to Darius with horror in my voice. "I am not travelling 1000s of miles for a stupid wedding!" I shook my head at him as I processed his words. "It's YOUR OWN SISTER'S wedding! Why would you not go to YOUR OWN SISTER'S wedding!" He gave me an annoyed look. "It's to far for something so insignificant! We are not traveling that far!" I paused at his word. 'we?' What does he mean 'we'? "Well you are officially the worst brother! Congratulations! I don't know what you expect me to say to Dalila when she finds her one and only brother isn't going." He gave me a frustrated look. "What do you mean just me? You aren't going either!" I rolled my eyes at him. "Yeah okay... Either way you aren't stopping me!" Darius started shaking with rage as our discussion made him angrier as it went on. "Did you not hear me Safiya!?! You aren't going! And if I have to confine you to our room to make you listen THEN SO BE IT!"
I gave him a smug smile, because I new I was going to win this game today. I've learned how his head works. So now, I know what wheels to turn to get what I want. "Fine but sense you aren't letting me do something I want then I won't let you do something you want!" He narrowed his eyes at me. While getting a smirk on his face soon after. "What? What could you possibly take from me?" He said mockingly. I smiled. "Sex." He froze, then instantly narrowed his eyes at me. "What?" He said through gnawed teeth. "I won't have sex with you for 6 months!" He looked at me like I was crazy. "You're bluffing!" I raised a brow at him. "Am I?" We had a stare down, but I could tell I was getting to him. "Fine! You can go to the stupid wedding!" He said sourly. I felt a victory smile come on. Who wins this round? Me! Who wins every round these days now? You've got it! Me!
I started packing up my bags to go to the wedding while Darius watched me with a grim look. "I don't like this." He said. I gave him a smile as I said "I don't care!" He sighed. "You realize you aren't leaving this palace without 10 body guards with you right?" I smiled and nodded. He narrowed his eyes at me. "Don't you go anywhere without them!" I rolled my eyes. "Darius! I know!" I got up and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. "I've got to go now." He looked down as he started sulking. "You know you could always come?" His face filled up with disgust. "No way! I hate weddings!" I shook my head at his childish behavior. As I walked out the doors with my stuff. The guards loaded it on the carriage; as I got in with the 10 guards. Talk about overdoing it but I've learned not to push my luck. If I get an agreement from him then I need to accept the conditions or he no longer feels empowered anymore.
When he feels that way then I can't get him to do anything. I have to compromise with him. That's the only way I've found it works. We traveled for a couple days, staying at inns during the nights. Until we eventually reached Hattusa, the capital. Upon our arrival Dalila ran and shot her arms around me. "I am so glad you're here!" She said with a smile. "Oh Dalila, I'm sorry to tell you this but your brother-" "Isn't coming? Yeah I figured... He's always hated weddings" She knew! ... Wow ... I clearly still have a lot to learn about him. "Well I will lead you to your rooms. I figured you would find a way to make Darius let you come and I figured he would send like 10 guards with you so I prepared for that." As she led us down a hall, she let me in a room and split the guards up between 4 room, leaving 2 on duty at all times as they switched patrols. I fell asleep relatively quickly.
The next day I sat in the wedding hall as the wedding was most likely to start any second. I couldn't wait to see Dalila walk down the isle. Then I saw a face I never wanted to see again. "What are you doing here?" Jasmyne asked me in disgust. "I could ask you the same thing!" She focused a glare at me. "This is my brother's wedding!" I looked at her perplexed. "But Larbanas is from the prince of the Hittite nation and you're the princess of Arabia!" She rolled her eyes at me. "Same father... Different mother. My father is the king of both Arabia and Hattusa. My brother is the heir to both thrones, he just takes the title of the Hittite one." I am actually pretty genuinely surprised right now. Soon after Jasmyne and I's 'discussion' the wedding finally started. I watched as Dalila, in a beautiful gown, walked down the isle.
It is so adorable how stuck in thought Larbanas was after witnessing her. It took over 5 minutes before he realized Dalila was already next to him. "Oh my bad! I... uh ... hahaha" I rolled my eyes. "Dork!" I froze and looked over quickly at Jasmyne, realizing we had said the same thing at the same time. And she looked at me in surprise as well. Then we both glared at each other and looked away with a 'hmmph' from the both of us. I refuse to play friendly with her. Not after the way she treated me before. I watched the rest of the wedding peacefully. Not engaging with Jasmyne on anything. I couldn't help but smile when Larbanas and Dalila shared their kiss. And even how happy Dalila looked after she officially became his wife. I'm glad I came. As soon as the wedding ended I headed back to my room and packed up my things. After wishing Larbanas and Dalila a 'congratulations' on the marriage I got my things packed up in the carriage and headed back home. I'm kinda scared to return home and see how many people ended up dead in my absence.
