Okay, what I hate most in recieving is "Hi, great books, check out mine!"
That one is a red flag.
It usually means they'd just go around profile to profile, hoping one of those people would check out their books. And I am not trying to be condescending, because I was one of those people, when I was like just 1 week old in Wattpad.
So to save you guys from that humiliating and tiring charade, here's a tip. . . DON'T DO THAT!
It would only annoy the living crap of the owner of that profile, and it's rude.
If you'd read a story, try to leave at least a vote or a comment to know that you like the story, be genuine. And who knows? That author might even follow or respond to you. It's more effective I tell you! And you've gained more friends.
In short, be genuine about things. I can't stress that enough.
Be active, no matter how good your story is, if you aren't active, no one would know about you.
Talk to people and not just your character, I understand we love our characters, but don't be a snob or too shy. You won't survive in Wattpad if you're like that.
Go to threads, and talk to people.
Interact with your club members (if you have one).
And just live.
