Chapter 25

Shadowwhisper saw the throng of ThunderClan cats leap away from their opponents and obey their leader.

A group of snarling ThunderClan clanmates padded towards Shadowwhisper and her group.

''Stay back!'' Shadowwhisper hissed, ''We are trying to help you!''

''As if!'' A small toirtoseshell she-cat meowed with an edge of anger to her voice.

Shadowwhisper immediatly recognized the small she-cat, ''Dappledsong!''

The she-cat recoiled, confused, ''How do you know my name?''

The cats around Dappledsong bristled and their claws slid out.

Shadowwhisper sighed, ''I am Shadowwhisper, remember?''

Dappledsong's eyes glittering with disbelief, ''Your not Shadowwhisper! Shadowwhisper had spotted fur, not silver fur.''

Shadowwhisper realized that she was different, ''Dappledsong you don't understa-''

Dappledsong cut her off, ''Enough of this nonsense you are not Shadowwhisper. If you do not leave now, I will attack.''

Shadowwhisper sighed, ''As you wish.''

Dapplesong let out a yowl and lunged forward.

Shadowwhisper dodged, ''Miststar!'' She yowled, ''Bring you and the other groups!''

Shadowwhisper saw Miststar, Shadownight and Blackstripe enter the camp.

Miststar strode forward.

All four forest clans were silent as Miststar padded forward, ''Moonstar I believe we met.''

Moonstar stepped back, ''Miststar.'' She said, her voice thick with anger, ''Why is WhisperClan here?''

A hint of a smile fell upon Miststar's lips, ''We are here to save you and your clan.''

Moonstar's tail flicked angrily, ''We don't need saving!''

Miststar's gaze fell upon all the injured ThunderClan cats, ''Moonstar, I do not wish to offend you, but you must not have looked upon your clanmates, because to me, they are helpless against all three clans.''

Moonstar opened her mouth to say something but Miststar continued.

''I am offering you my help, accept it if you wish, or decline it and we will battle against you.'' Miststar meowed.

Shadowwhisper stared at the two leaders closely, waiting for a reply from Moonstar.

Moonstar hesitated for a moment, then she looked at all her injured clanmates, ''I accept.''

Windwhisker noticed that in the camp all cats, ThunderClan or other clans were silent. He ignored them and ran towards the limp body of Winterpaw that lay in the center of the clearing.

He dodged cats and halted as he neard Winterpaw.

Windwhisker saw that Winterpaw was still breathing. Barely.

Her chest raised up slowly then fell down.

Winterpaw's eyes flickered open slowly and Windwhisker saw Winterpaw's deep blue eyes, ''Winterpaw....'' He murmured.

Winterpaw blinked, ''I'm so-sorry.'' She rasped and shuddered at the pain.

Windwhisker put his nose in Winterpaw's fur, ''No...it's my fault. I believed him.'' He raised his head and his eyes met Winterpaw's, ''You are no ShadowClan cat. You are pure ThunderClan.''

A smile fell upon Winterpaw's pale lips, ''Tha....''

She never got to finish her sentence as her voice faded away.

''No, Winterpaw, no!'' Windwhisker screeched with distress.

Winterpaw's eyes glazed over and her body fell still for the last time.

Windwhisker sucked in a breath and he licked Winterpaw's forehead, ''You were the best apprentice and friend that any cat could have.

Windwhisker could have sworn that he heard a purr from Winterpaw and his gaze ran over Winterpaw's body.

No sign of life remained on Winterpaw's body. He stepped away, greif overwhelming him.

Windwhisker saw all the cats around him stare at him. He didn't care. He didn't care about anything. 

He saw Frostfinch run over to Winterpaw sobbing softly, ''Winterpaw...winterpaw...my beautiful kit.''

Windwhisker turned away, his gaze burning with anger, ''I Windwhisker,'' His voice echoed around camp, ''Wish to leave ThunderClan.''
