Moonstar tore her gaze away from Miststar, ''What do you mean Windwhisker?''
Windwhisker's gaze burned with fury, ''StarClan has doomed ThunderClan, they have killed Winterpaw, my closest friend, my apprentice,'' He paused for breath, ''I don't wish to live in ThunderClan anymore. I will leave forever, never to return.''
Moonstar stared at him, ''You can't leave! There is no one to take your place!''
Windwhisker, ''I can't help that StarClan killed Winterpaw. You must deal with it now.''
Moonstar nodded slowly, ''As you wish.''
Windwhisker nodded briskly and turned to the exit and left, never to return again.

Miststar stepped closer to Moonstar, ''I can help you, on one condition.''
Moonstar's gaze glittered with distrust, ''Help? Youve helped enough.''
Miststar began to pad away, ''Fine then,'' She flicked her tail, leading WhisperClan away, ''Let ThunderClan die.''
Moonstar hesitated, ''Stop!'' She yowled, ''I will take your offer.''
Moonstar felt the gaze of all the other Clan leaders boring into her.
Miststar turned around, ''I will offer you Silvermist's apprentice, Smokepaw to be your new Medicine Cat.''
Moonstar saw a dark gray tom shift his paws uncomfortably, ''Smokepaw, step forward.''
The gray tom stepped forward hesitantly.
Moonstar placed her tail on the the nervous tom's back, ''I, Moonstar of ThunderClan, welcome you as our official medicine cat. But before I continue, I would like to give you your full name.''
Smokepaw's deep brown eyes glittered happily and he nodded determinedly.
Moonstar smiled at the tom and continued, ''Smokepaw, you shall now be known as Smokehaze. I welcome you as a fully fledged medicine cat of ThunderClan. May StarClan approve of my choice and guide you in your destiny.''
Smokehaze stepped forward and lick Moonstar's shoulder and Moonstar licked Smokehaze's head.
Moonstar noticed that the leader's of Wind, River and ShadowClan were putting there heads together and talking quietly.
Moonstar stepped forward, ''What are you talking about?'' She said, hostility in her voice.
The leaders backed away from each other and Snowstar padded forward, ''Moonstar, ThunderClan is weak, they are not worth fightitng.'' She stated simply, blue eyes glinting.
Moonstar snarled, ''Weak? Your just scared!''
Snowstar chuckled, ''No, Moonstar, we just don't want to waste our time on a bunch of kittypets like you.''

Shadowwhisper saw Silvermist pad up to Shadowwhisper.
''Shadowwhisper,'' Silvermist mewed softly, ''Come over here, I need to tell you something.''
Shadowwhisper nodded and followed the WhisperClan medicine cat to a bush, she stopped, ''What is it?''
Silvermist looked down nervously, ''I don't know if I should be telling you this, but Miststar is on her ninth life.''
Shadowwhisper gasped, ''Really? Why is she here? She could get killed?''
Silvermist nodded, ''That's the point, she could die, that's why I need you to watch her and fight for her.''
Shadowwhisper began to nod and reply when a sudden screech split the air.

Snowstar felt Moonstar's claws dig into her fluffy white fur and she screeched, ''You Foxheart!''
She bit Moonstar's shoudler and smiled in satisfaction as blood began to drip from the wound.
Moonstar's eyes glittered with fury.
Snowstar ducked a blow from Moonstar and she lunged underneath Moonstar and scraped her claws down her belly.
Moonstar yowled in pain and fell onto the ground, heaving.
Snowstar stood over Moonstar triumphantly, ''Surrender.''
Moonstar's eyes hardened, ''Never! Not so long as I'm alive!''
Snowstar smiled, ''Well maybe you won't be alive for longer....''

Lightningleaf stared in horror as Snowstar's paw struck Moonstar's throat.
''No!'' He yowled and knocked Snowstar out the way.
It's too late......too late.....
Snowstar screeched in fury, ''RiverClan, attack!''
Around Ligtningleaf, RiverClan cats rushed into battle and bore down ThunderClan cats.
Lightnigleaf felt anger overwhelm him, ''You Snowstar are-''
Cloudstar bowled him over, ''I'm sick of you ThunderClan kittypets! All you do is eat prey and sit around!''
Lightningleaf snarled, ''Well at least that's more than what you stupid WindClan cats do!''
Cloudstar opened his mouth to say something but then stopped. He smiled, ''Your brave Lightningleaf, but not brave enough.''

Shadowwhisper rushed back to the camp, tail steaming out behind her.
She saw Moonstar shudder in the middle of the clearing, blood pouring from her throat.
Shadowwhisper sat down next to Moonstar and licked Moonstar's matted fur.
Smokehaze padded over, eyes glazed with sorrow.
Shadowwhisper felt Moonstar's body go limp.
Shadowwhisper felt panic rise in her body, ''She's not.....,'' She saw Smokehaze's face, ''Is she?'' She said voice thick with greif.
Smokehaze smiled gently at Shadowwhisper, ''She is losing a life.''
