The click of her heels echoed on the stone of the empty street. The haunting fog blended smoothly with the shadows of the night. The only light guiding Selena's path was the reflection of the moon. Swiftly, she made her way down the street, hoping she would not get caught.
Selena slowed down her pace as a humor to her curiosities. Quietly, she took off her heels and started running down the street. The drunken voices of men trailed behind her. Too close to out run, she slips into a narrow alley between two shops. The darkness of the overcasting shadow protected her as the men sloppily made their way past her. Breathing. She had forgotten what it felt like to breath for a moment. Slowly, she let out a few shaky clusters of air.
When the coast was clear, she began walking. Every few seconds, her head would turn to check if they had come back. Her heart tortured her chest as the pounding became more intense. Finally, she came across the familiar yellow bricked building to which it all started. As usual, the door was unlocked. Stopping at the last room in the hall, she swings the door open, then just as nimbly, she slides in and closes it.
Leo's head whips around to the sound of the click. "What are you doing here? You can't be here."
"I know but I had to see you---"
"About what? It couldn't wait until tomorrow?"
"Listen to me---"
"You know what could have happened to you if you got caught?"
"I know! I know!" Selena huffs as she tries to catch her breathe. "I had to see you." Silence sets in as Leo starts to calm down. "I'm leaving."
"What do you mean?" He asks as he closes the gap between them.
"Its my family. My father made some kind of business deal with a man from The States. He and my brother have left already. My mother and I are supposed to leave tomorrow morning to meet them."
"Wait...when did this happen?" Leo asks in a frazzled state."Last night. The American phoned him and made the deal. They left on the first flight out this morning. We're supposed to be packing, but I can't do it...I can't do it". Tears start to burn the skin of her cheeks as her vision of Leo blurs.
"Shhhh" Leo comforts as he takes her in his arms.
"Don't let me go." She whispers.
"I won't." He responds. His chin delicately rests on top of her head as she buries her face in the crook of his neck. "No matter how far away, I will always love you.
They stayed like that for moments, pondering each other's future. Breaking Leo's train of thought, Selena untangles herself from his arms and walks back to the door. With the sound of a click, she locks it. Next, she walks over to the windows and pulls the draw strings. One by one, the striped shadow, cast by the moon light, vanished from the room. In almost complete darkness, Selena finds Leo again.
With only her sense of touch guiding her, she finds her way to his tie. Gripping it, she pulls him closer. Their faces stop only centimeters away from each other. The tip of his nose graces hers as their lips almost touch. The phantom touch of her velvety soft lips sent shivers across his whole body. Swiftly, he lifts her up. Her legs, almost automatically, find themselves wrapped around his hips. Teasingly, she bites his bottom lip as he sets her down on his desk. Papers fly to the floor as they make room. Their uneven breathes are the only sounds in the dead of night as they begin to share their burning desire.
The End.
