The music could be heard all down the street, but nobody cared because it was Halloween. People were either dancing their heads off at a house party or screaming "Trick or Treat". The source of the street's vibrations could be found at 7563 Willowbrook avenue where Phoebe found herself just after midnight. She wasn't invited, but was dragged as her roommate bounced them from party to party.

It wasn't until she was three drinks in when Phoebe, more than comfortably, led the dancefloor as Thriller came on. Her moves weren't accurate but were infectious. More and more people found their rhythm and danced along with her. Phoebe couldn't have felt more popular in that moment.

Everyone was mid zombie walk when the music abruptly stopped. Nobody knew what had happened. The power obviously was not out. As the groans began to roar across the room, two men dressed in uniform pushed themselves into the livingroom.

"I'm going to need you kids to lower your music. We've been getting a lot of complaints." The first officer stated. He was shorter than the other one standing next to him and had dark brown hair. Phoebe noticed something off about them, but was too drunk to concentrate.

"Yeah, this is your first and only warning. We will have no choice but to start arresting..." The second officer's voice deepened as drew out his last word. He tipped down his oversized aviators as he watched two girls dressed as cats walk by.

"Hey is that beer I smell?" The first officer asked? "There had better not be any underage drinking going on! Especially if it's Coors Light. If I catch a Coors floating around, someone's definitely getting arrested. You may as well be drinking piss."

"Hey, that's not a cop! That's Hernandez. Man, quit playing and turn the music back on." A strange voice came out the crowd. Phoebe turned her head but couldn't find where it came from. She turned back to the first "cop" and caught him laughing as he took his sunglasses off.

He put his hands up. "Caught me." He turned. "Hey Matt, turn the music back..." The second officer disappeared, most likely chasing the two cats. Hernandez quickly forgot about his fellow officer when the music turned back on.

A remix of some popular song was blasting through the stereos. Phoebe picked up another red cup as she followed Hernandez. She recognized him from the cafe she frequented. She'd be lying if she said the only reason she went there was because she loved coffee.

Her roommate, Julia, pulled her to the side. "That was close, huh? I thought we were going to get busted!"

"Didn't you see that their badges were painted onto their uniforms?" Phoebe returned.

"What I did notice was Matt Schroeder. Did you see him? I knew he looked familiar." She nudged her friend. "He looks great in uniform! Do you think he's going for criminal justice? He should."

Ignoring Julia, Phoebe replied, "Did you see the other policeman?" She nodded. "That's the barista!"

           "The barista?"

"Yes! Oh my goodness. I didn't think he'd be here! What if he thinks I'm stalking him? I go to the cafe all the time!"

"Calm down, Phoebes, this is a huge party. The likelihood of you two being at the same Halloween party is pretty high. Why don't you go talk to him?"
