'One day we'll get nostalgic for disaster.'

Me and Pete go to the supermarket the Saturday morning after our movie night. It's really sweet of him to do that. Although I'm not still wondering how he managed to get (at least 15? I don't know) blankets that many. Not that I'm not complaining.

"... then Gabe threw the box with the giant spider in the room and we all screamed, like 'yo, Gabe threw the fucking spider in the room, you run the hell out or you die!' Brendon was all over me, clinging like a koala and Mikey was like, just chill. He stomped his boot on the spider and we all yelled at him like, 'yo what the fuuuuck! Why'd you kill it, man?!' And he was like, 'yo I did this for you fuckers!' And then I was like..."

I zone him out. I want to recount how many times he said the word "like" and "yo".

"... after Jack put on a condom in his hand and used it like a sock puppet. And then we graduated and like, kept in touch since. How about you, Rickster? How's high school for you?"

Augh, talking about high school is like having war flashbacks. The stess, the exams, the bullies who pick on me for being so fat, my parents with high standards, not being able to enjoy teenage stuff like a normal hormonal teenager does, spending lunch time in bathroom stalls, my ex-boyfriend ignoring me in public since he's popular, not to mention gross cafeteria food, getting beat up, lonely nights talking to my candle, and always arriving late.

But of course, there were moments when I love to be in school. The music subject, Joe and Hayley, and lastly, that football quarterback. I never learned his name but I had such a massive crush on him.

There was one time when I got hit by a ball and he carried me to the clinic. He spoke to me, I think he said "You'll be fine." but I'm not sure. He has dreamy eyes and (probably) soft black hair in a small quiff. The way he smiled at me was worth a billion dollars. I thanked him, and he nodded. But after that, he and I never spoke to each other ever again. Must've been because I was too fat and ugly. Sigh. I wonder where he is now.

"Patrick?" Pete's voice brings me back. I shake my head and put the cheese in the cart.

"It was okay." I say flatly. He doesn't seem convinced about that.

"Uh... what okay? Like okay... or okay okay?"

I bite my lip before speaking. "It's okay."

"Oh."

"Y-yeah."

Pete takes a box of pancake mix and dumps it in the cart. He smiles at me, kissing my forehead. "I get that you don't wanna elaborate that 'okay' but if you ever wanna talk about it, don't hesitate to come me, yeah?"

"Alright." I force a smile. Pete kisses my forehead again, then intertwine our fingers together.

We are in the cereal isle, dabating if we will get Fruit Loops or Cap'n Crunch, when someone calls Pete's name. Pete and I turn around to see two guys walking towards us. They look perfect for each other. Must be soulmates? One has windblown dark brown hair with blue eyes, and the other one was awfully familiar. He has blond hair and chiseled jawline.

"Dallon! Mikey!" Pete grins, waving at them excitedly.

Dallon, I think, smiles. "Good to see you, Pete! What're you up to this wake of Saturday?"

"Oh, me and my lil lunchbox here just gonna get groceries. He's Patrick. Patrick, this is Dallon and Mikey."

"Nice to meet you." I smile.

"Patrick? As in Patrick Martin Stump?" Mikey asks, brows raise.

I nod slowly, earning questioning looks from Pete and Dallon. I eye Mikey more, then it hit me.

"W-wait. Are you Mikey Way?" I take a step back. Pete squeezes my hand but I only glance at him then back at the guy in front of me.

He lets out a small breath. "Yeah. Gerard's brother. Long time, no see."

I grip the cart tightly. Gerard.

"It's been what? Five years? He was trying to contact you but he never found you." Mikey mutters the last part, and I shake my head.

"I purposely avoided him. After what happened to the two of us, does he think I still want to do anything with him?" I stop myself from crying. Darn it, I don't wanna cry in a supermarket!

Pete interferes before Mikey says anything. "What did he do to you, 'Trick?"

Dallon says something to Mikey but I did not catch it. Mikey nods, then turns to me and Pete.

"Uh... We gotta go. Talk to you later, Pete."

"Catch you later." Dallon pats Pete's shoulder and drag Mikey away, leaving us in silence.

Pete wraps his arms around me protectively and I lost my control. I sob on his chest, unable to speak.

---

"You feeling better, babe?" Pete hands me a cup of hot cocoa, sitting beside me on my couch.

I sniffle, nodding. "A bit better 'cause you're here."

"Smooth." He chuckles. "Wanna talk about what happened earlier?"

"No." Sorry, Pete.

The reason why I couldn't tell Pete is because he has something to do with it. I'm just going to gather the courage to tell him.
