New Quietness

Aedda woke up, the next morning, ten minutes past noon. Surprised at how late she woke up, she got out of bed and headed towards the kitchen. Before she reached the door, she stopped and checked if she was alone. Confirming she was, she walked towards the fridge and saw a note on it:

Breakfast is inside, try not to set the house on fire!

Love, omma.

Aedda sighed and opened the fridge. She was about to wash the dishes, when her phone vibrated and she, practically, ran towards it. Hoping that someone will save her from boredom, she opened the message she received from her best friend:

Working today, can't hang out sorry.

Aedda took a deep breath in, then exhaled. That left her with only one thing to do: homework.

Finishing her maths homework, she checked the time in her digital clock and saw that it was already 7pm. It has gotten late, yet Aedda still hasn't received any surprise visits. Slightly disappointed, she reached for her laptop and saw that someone wanted to video chat with her. Pressing answer, Aedda was greeted with 5 of her friends back in Seoul.

"Aedda/ Angel/ Monkey!" All the nicknames were shouted out, earning a smile from the said girl.

"Hey guys, it's been a while. What's up?" Aedda asked, now noticing something, "Sehunnie, what did you do with your hair?" The one she spoke of, Sehun, had dyed his hair blonde and added a bit of random colours, looks like a parrot, Aedda thought.

"What, you don't like it noona? I like it, the other guys make fun of me though." Sehun pouted, receiving laughs from the others.

"That's because it looks like a unicorn puked on you!" Jongdae, one of Aedda's first friends, ruffled the younger's hair.

"So, how have you been Aedda, have you been eating well? You look quite skinny." Junmyeon, the mother of the group, asked worriedly.

Aedda laughed, "the camera makes me look skinnier, I've been eating well."

Kyungsoo, one of Aedda's quieter friends, spoke up, "you better not be eating take away all the time, just because I'm not there." Back at home, Kyungsoo used to always cook for Aedda, since her parents worked a lot, it was actually what brought those two to be so close.

Aedda scoffed, "I'm not eating take away or microwave food, don't worry."

The boys on the other side gasped, "you made your own food?" Junmyeon asked, astonished. Aedda and food had a complicated relationship; Aedda loved food with all her heart, but food never liked the idea of Aedda cooking it.

Aedda shook her head, "I sometimes have dinner with my neighbours, and the boy from the family sometimes makes me breakfast."

Silence.

"What boy?!"

"How come you're having dinner with strangers?!"

"Is his food better than mine?!"

"Be quiet!" Junmyeon shouted, rubbing his temples. Everyone immediately stopped, this way Aedda was able to process what they asked.

Sehun exhaled, "what boy, noona?"

Aedda shook out of her trance, "his name's Jeon Jungkook, his my omma's best friend's son. I started babysitting his sister in the summer, we are now friends."

With everything explained, the boys nodded and began to ask more questions about her living situation. Aedda replied with honesty, making sure the boys don't worry about her. In the end, it was around 9 o'clock and Aedda needed to go to school tomorrow. They bid goodbye and she logged off, going to shower and then sleep. She has totally forgotten about the Jeons, but all Jungkook could think about was Aedda.

In truth, the whole family were visiting Mr Jeons business partners. Min Hee didn't like the idea at all. The other family had 4 year old twins. They weren't as mature as her, so it wasn't entertaining at all. Jungkook, on the other hand, had to sit at the dinner table as the parents talked about how one day Jungkook was to take over his father's company. Jungkook sighed, he couldn't care less about him taking over, all he wanted to do is to know how his "friend" was doing. Unfortunately, only his mother had her phone number and he was definitely not going to ask that from her. If you think about it, where else could Min Hee get her character from?
