Annabelle hated having nervous energy.
She didn't mind it during the day because she got things accomplished but when it's the middle of the night when she should be sleeping.
She thought about calling Luke again but she figured that he didn't want to be bothered by her problems at 2 am. So she kept walking.
She turned her phone off, and walked until she got to the pier. She looked down, listening to the over lapping waves. Her dad used to take her here when he needed a break from their mom.
Now Annabelle's father needed a break from both of them, apparently.
She had all this energy and nowhere to go.
"It's a bit early to think about going for a swim." Luke said, stepping out from behind the shadows of the pier bait shop.
She looked at the water, the reflection of the moon glistening lightly. She continued to stay silent.
Luke stood next to her reaching into his pocket to fish out two coins. He gave one to her and kept the other.
"Make a wish." He said, closing his eyes.
They each silently wished for something different.
Annabelle wished for her father's love again.
Luke wished to get as far away from all of it and to get a break to figure things out.
They only heard Annabelle's coin drop before a seagull came flying up in time to get hit by Luke's coin, sending it back to his feet.
He sighed before saying, "I guess wishing is really for the birds."
