CALEB continued to get drunk as the night pressed on.
It's funny really, how seeing something, or thinking that you saw something, can make you want to forget it so badly. It's even more funny when you assume that you saw something as horrible as your significant other cheating on you.
I'm going to have to remind myself to thank GRANT tonight after the party.
The plan that I had was perfect really. The only problem was that CALEB hadn't left with me to get his "present". I had to cut that part of my revenge out of it and settle for making him think that his precious MAYA was cheating on him.
As if she would actually do something like that. The girl is practically obsessed with CALEB. I mean honestly, she has so many pictures of him in her room, it's scary.
MAYA'S brother, DILLYN, played perfectly into my plan as well, although he was added into it at the last moment. He captured CALEB'S mortified expression, as well as MAYA in a seemingly, compromising position.
DILLYN just helped me get my revenge and he has no idea that he was a part of a plan. He just wanted to help someone that claimed they were friends with CALEB and MAYA. He is so naive, but at least he's cute. I may have to keep in contact with him after this.
I'm taken away from my thoughts as someone bumps into me, causing me to spill some of my drink.
"Watch where you're-" I stop my sentence once I realize that it's CALEB.
"Sorry about that." he slurs.
He turns to walk away and almost falls to the ground. I snake an arm around his waist in an attempt to keep him standing.
"You're pretty smashed, aren't you?" I question with a slight laugh.
"I'm not thrashed- I mean trashed, er smashed." he stumbles with his words. Lines of confusion forming on his face.
"Okay," I steer him towards the stairs. "Let's get you upstairs, CALEB."
We walked up the staircase and I led him to the bedroom that we were standing outside of earlier in the night. I twisted the knob, checking to see if it was locked, and it opened.
I walked over to the bed that was placed in the middle of the pretty large bedroom, and made CALEB lie down. I sat down next to him and couldn't help but laugh at his condition.
"You know, two years ago, I really liked you." he mumbles in an almost inaudible tone.
I'm not even shocked by his admission. A lot of people liked me, none of them really knew me though.
"I wish you hadn't left. Things would've been so much better for us if you had stayed."
What does he mean,'us'? There is no 'us'.
"What do you mean?" I ask him.
"You know, after the party I thought things were going to change between us." he pauses to hiccup a few times before continuing. "When I went to see you the next day, you didn't want to see me, then you left."
I'm not completely sure what he's on about. I was at home the day after the party, but he had told my parents that I was completely smashed. He had also emailed them a video of me doing shots after I promised that I wouldn't get drunk again. So, the day after the party, I had to start packing because they were arranging my flight to London.
Why would he even come see me the day after the party? I hated him then, just like I should hate him now.
While staring at the ceiling, I wondered aloud, "Why would you think that things would be different between us?"
After he didn't answer, I looked over at him and saw that he was asleep.
I guess I'll have to ask him tomorrow.
This just made everything so much more complicated.
I locked the door to the room that he was asleep in, so that no one would try to take advantage of him while he was asleep, and I walked back to rejoin the party.
I began looking for SAM so that I could fill her in on everything that's happened. Instead, I ran into LANIE, a very drunk, LANIE. It's a good thing that GRANT doesn't drink, he's going to have to be our designated driver tonight.
"Hey, LYLA!", she screeched.
I instinctively took a step back, "Hey, LANIE. Having fun?"
"Tons! We should've done this sooner!" she squealed excitedly.
"Yeah... Have you seen SAM?" I ask hesitantly.
"Last I saw her, she was dancing in the other room. Want me to come with you?"
I inwardly cringe at her suggestion. Drunk LANIE is definitely not my favorite. "No. It's fine, I'll find her. Go find GRANT and stay with him. We're going to leave soon."
"But I don't want to leave yet." she stated.
"I don't really care." I said with little room for argument.
I began walking to the makeshift dance floor without sparing LANIE another look.
I really can't stand her sometimes. Why does she have to be so difficult?
I immediately spot SAM in the middle of the fairly large room, dancing with a tall, tan, blonde boy. Almost everyone in the room had their eyes on her, SAM was always good at being the center of attention.
She spotted me almost at the same time that I had started towards her.
She sent me a smile and waved, while I signaled her to come over to where I was standing.
She gently lowered the head of the guy she was dancing with to whisper in his ear. She then pulled out her phone and exchanged numbers with him. I guess they had hit it off.
She began sauntering over to me and I couldn't help but notice how her face lit up from being around the blonde boy.
"This party was the best idea ever!"
I smiled at her, her excitement is always contagious. "We're leaving with GRANT soon, okay?"
Her smile dropped slightly before she spoke again. "I guess we should leave, don't want to be too hungover in the morning, right?"
I nodded my head, "Exactly. Let's go find GRANT and LANIE."
"Why is GRANT here anyways?" she asked curiously.
"I needed him for my plan and he makes a good designated driver since he doesn't drink." I told her honestly.
She nodded her head then looked around, continuing our search.
We had all left our phones in the car, afraid of losing them or dropping them during the party. In hindsight, we should've brought them with us, so we could get in contact with each other.
"There they are!" SAM says pointing and waving trying to catch their attention.
GRANT notices us and steers LANIE over to where we're standing.
He leans in and kisses me on the cheek. "Ready to leave?" he asks me.
I nod in response and hand him my keys from my small clutch that I was carrying.
"Let's go."
