It's been a few days since I last talked to CALEB. I tried to go to his house the day after he texted me saying that he wouldn't be coming over. He only turned me away with nothing but an apology and a short explanation of him needing a break after his break up.

I was infuriated. He should've been still angry about MAYA. He should've wanted to make her feel the same way that he felt. He should've wanted to jump at the chance of having me.

Not that he would actually have me, of course.

Ever since he turned me away in favor of his personal space, GRANT has been looking at me like he's a lost puppy.

I can't lie to myself, he would still have my heart if he hadn't cheated on me. Hell, he might still have a part of my heart, even if it's a small, insignificant part.

All of a sudden, LANIE burst into the backyard where I was currently getting lost in my thoughts, cigarette in hand.

"Why are you running around like a mad woman? Is everything alright?" I ask with a small smirk on my face.

She takes a deep breath before trying to speak. "I was looking for you."

I wait for her to elaborate, but it doesn't happen.

"Why?" I prod.

She takes a seat next to me on the patio and asks for a puff of my cigarette. I reluctantly pass it to her, still waiting for my answer.

"Look, I don't want you to get angry," she starts, "but, I've kind of been talking to CALEB."

My face contorts with confusion. "What do you mean?"

"We kissed the other day and we've kind of been talking since then."

She had an air of arrogance around her as she said this. I really wanted to knock her smug expression off of her face.

"Oh." was all that I could say to her.

Her face dropped. "I know that you had a thing with him, but I also know that it wasn't anything serious, so I thought you wouldn't mind."

I quickly look down at my phone and start typing in the browser.

"It's fine, really." I lie. "It's just, I thought you wouldn't mind if I told you that you're no longer welcome at my house. Pack your bags, I bought you a plane ticket home."

With that I put my cigarette out and walked back inside.

She should know better than that.
