I couldn't just leave him there. Too many things could've happened to him if I had left him there. Besides, me taking him home would only help with my plan.

At least, that's what I'm telling myself.

I hear a soft knock at my door.

"Who is it?" I ask still lost in my thoughts.

"GRANT." he answers shortly.

I tell him that he can come in and he makes the walk over to my bed in long strides before sitting down.

"How are you?" he asks cautiously.

I make a face at his question.

Why would he ask that?

"I'm fine, why?" I question him.

"You like him, don't you?"

I'm taken aback by his accusation and his question.

"Like, who? What are you talking about, GRANT?" he must have decided to drink or something.

He rolls his eyes at me. "You know who, don't play dumb with me, me LYLA."

I continue acting like I'm not sure who he means. "I really don't know what you're on about, GRANT."

"The birthday boy." he states dryly.

I nearly choke at his words. "Me, like CALEB? You've gone mad."

He gives me a deadly serious look before speaking, "If you didn't like him, why would you be so adamant about ruining his relationship with that girl?"

I stop to think for a moment so that I can give him an honest answer.

Why do I want to ruin him so badly?

"He took my happiness away from me, I'm only returning the favor." I tell him truthfully.

He finally settles on my answer and drops the topic while shaking his head. He must know that this conversation wasn't going to get him anywhere.

He scoots closer to me on the bed and grasps my hand in his, lightly running his thumb across my knuckle, while he stares down at his lap.

"You know," he starts, "When I first saw that you had texted me I thought that you wanted to talk about us..." he stops looking down at his lap and his eyes gaze into my own.

I can't believe he's doing this right now, of all times that he could have brought this up, he chose right now to talk about it. I should've known that it would happen eventually.

"Look, GRANT, I honestly don't think that this is a good-"

I'm cut off by him as he captures my lips in a kiss. I stay still, not moving against him as he tries to illicit some type of reaction from me. After a moment, he realizes that I'm not going to kiss him back and he pulls away.

I slide away from him slightly and wipe my mouth on the back of my hand.

"That was uncalled for, don't you think?" I ask him quietly.

"I'm sorry, LYLA, when I'm around you, I can't help myself. I mean Hell, I drove two hours to come help you with your childish revenge because I thought it could start something between us again." he says.

"GRANT, you ruined what we had, not me. We were good together back in London, but when you came back last summer you changed that. You cheated on me and that broke my heart." I pause for a moment to collect my thoughts, "I told you that we could still be friends. Nothing more, nothing less." I tell him truthfully.
