"Can I go see the bar soon?" I questioned, peering out the broad wind shield of his car.
"Its not finished yet. Liam insisted on taking your advice before opening, and we don't have your friends information."
"Really! She will be so excited! I can't wait. I'm telling you they'll hit it off great!" I cheered, thinking of the potential relationship that had already been planned in my head. From the moment I met Liam I knew Ally would find him utterly adorable. I just had to find a way to set them up without blatantly prying into their personal affairs. Now with the bar in place, it was the perfect plan.
"I'll give her a call and tell her the news."
"I don't know if you really want Ally in this. It's bad enough I brought you into it." He sighed. I could tell their was more to his job that was yet to be told, but I figured we had come past this. My naivety proved me wrong once again.
"She can handle herself, just like me. And you told me this was over, that you payed your debt,"
"Sweetheart you don't even know the half of it."
I shuttered at his words. Alex had been the only one to call me that, and each time the false affection was spoken I cringed in fear. It had been a term of endearment corrupted into a sick petname to frighten me. Hearing it come from Zayn hurt now more than it ever did from Alex. I was struck with reminders of events I had desperately tried to forget. Just one word set off hundreds of shuttering moments in my memory.
"Please don't call me that." I shakily demanded, sounding more pleading than assertive.
"Juliet what's wrong?"
"Other than you lying about your job, and this whole Caleb situation! Alex use to say that before he'd beat me. The usual 'you scared yet sweetheart?' was the signature line spoken before merciless hits were given to me." I strongly fought the urge to cry, no longer wanting to be bothered with the memory.
Zayn pulled into the car lot of the shelter, peering at my emotionless features. He had unintentionally set off a reminder of my less than settling past relationship.
"I would never hurt you like him."
His hands grabbed my face, gently cupping both cheeks in either hand. My emerald gaze met his golden one desperately searching for any amount of untruth. But I found none. He truly desired to protect me.
"I know that you don't make promises, but for me make just one." I weakly begged placing my much smaller hand over his.
"I've broken too many to make anymore."
I nodded my head in defeat, prying his hands away from my face. My seatbelt was undone, letting myself leave the car instead of the usual waiting on Zayn's assistance.
The sounds of his foots steps could be heard as he silently followed me to the entrance."Your upset." He stated.
"Sophie's probably waiting I better go."
"Don't I get a kiss?"
Despite my current disappointment towards Zayn, I rose up to peck his lips. The soft smile he wore making it impossible to be upset with him.
"I don't like you very much!" I joked, resting my arms around his neck.
"But I like you." He hotly whispered in my ear.
A noticeable tinge of pink overran my cheeks as he spoke. Zayn pressed his lips to mine once more. Without warning his arms effortlessly lifted me up. My legs wrapped around his torso, smiling into his kiss.
The sound of bells ringing from the entrance door, brought us both out of our little world. Zayn put me down feeling weak, incapable of inhaling enough air to breath.
"S-Sophie's probably waiting." I breathily stuttered, coming out of my daze.
"Goodbye Juliet." He smiled making his way back to the car. I watched in aww running over my still tingling lips.
