Heaving up the last heavy box I signed closing the doors of the truck. "You didn't have to take the heavy boxes Vanessa." My brother grinned from the sidewalk. "Well its all done and dusted besides I like the heavy lifting." I cocked an eyebrow at him but he just dangled keys on one finger still grinning. "Seriously!" I exclaimed recognizing them as the mustang's the blue beast my dream car even thou its my brothers. He nods. "Beside no matter how butch you pretend to be I'll take the truck." I was so giddy I didn't even reply as I basically skipped to the car getting in. After adjusting the mirror and running my hands over the leather I started the engine enjoying its purr as it vibrates softly. Josh honked the horn once to get me to move already I glanced up at the rearview mirror seeing him shaking his head at me. I revved up the engine twice watching his mouth working than left him in the dust tires screeching man I loved this car. He soon followed even if it was at a considerable distance.

Josh owned my dream car I rarely got the chance to drive it, unless its to the grocery errands they take pleasure in making me do. Maybe I should move in with them. Them being him and my sister they were so lucky to have their own place with true freedom.

The drive lasted a good two hours, ending in a nice looking suburb. We pulled up to amazing looking modern apartment building. Though it looked more like a penthouse. When we got out of our vehicles I let out a low whistle. It was seriously nice since its daytime so I could appreciate it more. "You must just love Primatec for those fat checks." I say nodding towards the building.

Josh snorted slightly. "Sure, cause it has nothing to do that I'm a doctor and your sisters a lawyer." He huffed cocking a brow at me. I gave him a flat look making him laugh. "Okay if its any consolation my bank love me." We both laughed at that. "Right so stellar jobs during the day and fearsome hunters at night." Josh shakes his at at me as he puts his hand on my shoulder guiding forward while he replied softy. "No Vanessa your the fearsome one, a little to cocky sometimes but your the bravest. He had a small smile on his face as he looked down at me. He had a strange look on his face like he was not telling me something. But before I could press him for an answer my sister's cut in from the balcony. "Your here I'll buzz you in." She says running back in. When we stepped inside I was once again blown away. "Its even more amazing on the inside." My sister smirked down at me from the stairs curved up to the second floor of the loft. "You got that right sis its great. Oh came up here quick." I gasped when I reached the huge glass windows standing beside her gapping at the view of the city.

"Ok chop, chop let's get those boxers inside." My sister clap's her hands together shoving us towards the door. We powered through everything till all the boxes we're inside and unpacked.

We worked up quite a appetite so we all piled into my sister's car heading to Macy's. I love diner foods if you could even call Macy's a diner it was like a five star restaurant but with smaller cosier setting. And the heavenly food of course.

We all were sitting in booth waiting for waitress the delicious smells of food in the air making my stomach growl very unladylike. Kayla and my brother laughed at that. "Just when was the last time you ate Vanessa?" My brother ask trying to sternly but I only shrugged before my sister cuts in. "Let me guess yesterday." She stated narrowing her eyes me. They were both looking at me disapprovingly. "I mean really Vanessa you need to take better care of yourself." My sister continued, look guys I had a energy drink and cereal bar this morning okay I said sounding exasperated and a little annoyed. "Good, cause if you don't I got you know who on speed dial." She finished rising her phones screen at me. I nodded seeing my Mom who was out of the country. Yes she's a hunter but not just any she was part of the Elite Huntress's working for Primatec I missed her.

Soon the waitress took our orders while I checked out the place more closely it wasn't too busy but this place was never empty. There was a guy sitting at the end of the counter he looked like drifter I narrowed my eyed at him dark sunglasses and he was sitting like he was avoiding the sun coming through the front windows. He turned his head to glance my way then confirmed my suspicions when he made his way out back avoiding stepping in direct sunlight. "Everything okay?" My brother asked following my line of sight. "Yeah going to the ladies room." I said flashing him my dagger. He nodded while my sister looked up startled. "Vanessa there are three families with kids here. "I know don't worry Kayla I've got this." I left but only found the backdoor busted open wide open revealing alleys that were cast in the shadows of the buildings around us. "Great he probably used them as an escape route. "At the end of the alley I found a open drain scrunching up my face at the bloodsucker's escape. I will get you next time.

I met my brother halfway at the back of Macy's as he leaned against the brick wall. "Back so soon he mused." Scanning me from head to toe. "Not one scratch he complimented. "Probably because he got away." My brother gave me a flat look folding his arms. "Is there something we need to know about?" He was revering to him and my sister. "I got a file of supernatural activity in the area but I didn't think one those freaks would visit a diner." I shook my head at the thought. When we returned to the table and I saw the kids with their families I felt a little better now. Everyone was safe. "You'll get your vampire Vanessa, you always do." My sister nodded before speaking. "Ness lets go over the file together and have a family hunt, one last time." Her eyes suddenly went wide when she realized she'd slipped up. She give my brother a sheepish look. "You guys are quoting ?" I snapped out. Then glared at them both. My brother was looking down at the table while my sister signed. "Look Ness we just don't want it ruling our lives like... But she didn't finish as the waitress brought our food. "We want to help people in ordinary ways without killing and placing our lives on the line." Does mom know about this?" I asked looking down at my hands. They nodded unison. My brother reached over and took my hands in his. "Look Nessa please don't think we are deserting you. We will still be involved with Primatec in one way or another just not the fieldwork and actual hunting anymore. But we'll always be there for you when you need us okay?" Josh squeezed her hand with such sincerity and love in his eyes making lump in her throat. He was so much like their dad she thought. Vanessa squeezed his hand back while her sister put on hers on both of theirs reassuringly. They ate in silence trying to ignore the elephant in the room for now.
