Chapter 5

Jaden

Moises parked the Rover and we all hopped out. I could tell Aubri was nervous from the way she was walking in the back of the group. “Chill they’ll like you I’m sure,” I said wrapping my left arm around her waist. We walked through the doors and into the main area to the sound of wheels scraping. I scoped the room out and my eyes landed on the group of girls: Kendall, Kylie, Jordyn, Pia, and Stella. Crap.

Lane

“LANE LOVE!” Kendall screamed running full speed to me. “Kenny!” I jumped on her and we acted like fools for a minute. “Okay okay, Kendall this is my cousin Aubri. Aubri, my babe Kendall Jenner,” I introduced them. “I know who she is!” Aubri grinned. “Hey girly, you’re cute,” Kendall said hugging Aubri like the outgoing person she is. “Hey, you’re cute too,” Aubri said back. “Hey boys,” Kendall waved at them. “Hey Kendall” They all said at once. We walked over to the group of other girls that were standing and whispering. “Hey Kylie,” I said hugging the only other girl I got along with besides Kendall and Pia. “Hey Lane you look good,” she said back to me. “Girls, this is my cousin Aubri, Aubri these are the Intricates.”They all nodded and scoped her out. “Hey you model for Nasty Gal!” Pia said to Aubri and they had a little conversation about their clothes. “Hey Lane, who are you dating now? Moises or Mateo?” Stella asked tilting her head to the side playing with a strand of her hair. “Mateo, but I could have them both easily. As for you, you have to work hard for boys to even notice your presence,” I stated back making Aubri, Kendall, and Kylie go into a laughing fit. “Please, they’ll forget about you as soon as you go back to where ever you came from,” she said stepping forward and testing my patience. “Oh really? Because Moi was the one who called and asked me to come out here. I’m a Victoria Secret Angel. As for you, you’re just a little Hollywood MUTT—” I started to yell when Mateo spun me around and kissed me long and hard. “Wanna skate babe?” he asked. “Of course.” I grabbed my board from him and pushed off leaving Stella to stand there looking stupid.

Aubri

The shade is real. I love how Stella tried to come off strong though. She just better not start that mess with me. She’s really pretty and looked like she could be a good friend. Too bad I have a feeling that we’re not gonna like each other. Like at all. Especially not after the way she just treated my cousin. After Lane pushed off on her board, it was quiet. All you could hear were the sounds of wheels hitting the half pipes until Jaden came over to save me from the awkward silence. “You wanna skate?” he asked smoothly. “I would, but I forgot shoes.” I glanced down at my heels. “I gotchu, again.” He took off his backpack and pulled out some black low tops. They were a little big, but it would just have to work. He helped me get them on like a gentleman, then put my heels in his bag. “Alright, now you’re ready,” he said tying the last lace. “So is this the downgrade?” Stella said making me realize she was still here. I stood up. “Excuse you, I’m not anybody’s ‘downgrade’. Just because Lane put you on hush mode over there don’t mean you should try me. So chill out.” I say it calm but in a tone where she knew I wasn’t playing. “Ew, you’re one of those girls who think they’re hard. Please don’t.”  I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. “Look, Stella. you don’t know me, but if you don’t go somewhere with this nonsense, you’re gonna get to know me. So I suggest you fall the fuck back.” Jaden pulled on my belt loop. “Chiiiiiiiiill.” “It’s alright, I don’t waste energy on pettiness,” I put my board down and quickly pushed off as Jaden skated to catch up.

Lane caught my eye from the other side and did our little victory dance. I winked back so I wouldn’t fall of my board. “They have a lot of skaters in Virginia?” Jaden asked rolling beside me. “Not really. my boyf- best friend. Taught me. Yeah,” I said quickly not trying to bring up Daric. “Well he taught you well,” he smiled at me and I did the same. Moises taught me to kick flip and I caught on quickly but after awhile I got bored. “Lane are you ready to leave?” I asked walking over to where she was sitting with Kendall. “Aw you’re gonna go?” Kendall whined. “Yeah, babysitting gig, we’ll catch up later,” she joked standing up and stretching. We said bye to everybody, well almost everybody and headed out. “Where to?” I asked Jaden. “My house!” Mateo answered for him. 

Jaden

We got to Moises and Mateo’s crib. Moi is 19 so he can live alone and Teo decided to move in with him. Aubri did the thing where her eyes got big when she was astonished. I couldn’t help but laugh. “What are you giggling about?” she asked swinging around to face me. “You’re cute, you look like a tourist,” I explained. “I’m cute? Thanks,” she smiled and kept aimlessly walking.  “Very cute, you want a tour?” I asked, she nodded and I took her hand in mine. We went room by room and ended up in Moi’s art gallery. “This is amazing,” she said doing the wide eyed thing again. “Yeah, this is my favorite room in the house, and it’s the most romantic.” “Oh really, how?” she asked testing me with her eyes. I started advancing to her slowly. “The lighting, the pictures, the feel, the girl,” I said tilting her chin up. I leaned in, but her phone broke off the moment.

Aubri

He came towards me walking and talking smoothly. Everything he said was on point. He tilted my chin up and leaned in. Oh God. Lips getting closer…closer “HELLO!” my phone goes off ruining my life. My whole entire beautiful life. It was like mother Mary calling me and telling me not to cheat. Like a warning symbol that I didn’t want. But instead of either of those things, it was Daric. My boyfriend.

“Hello?”  I answered sheepishly.

“Hey babe, long time no speak. You iggin’ my calls?”

“No, never that.”

“Babe I know you,” he said with that assuring tone.

“Okay, I was just a little busy.”

“Can you talk now?”

“Actually I’m in the middle of something, call you later. Bye,” I hung up in his face.

I turned my phone off and looked back at Jaden who was smirking. “Was that your boyfriend?” he asked. “What? No. That was one of my friends from back home,” I lied. It felt like my nose was growing like Pinocchio. “Oh, in that case,” He leaned in again.

“NO!” I said covering his mouth.

“What?” He said through my fingers, then licking them.

 “Ew!” I laughed pulling my hand back.
