'Every ending is just a promise of another beginning.'

"Callie", I could hear my mother's voice in the now empty house. "Hurry, we are gonna get late"."Just a minute mom", I answered. My voice echoed back.
I quickly took one last glance at my empty room and sat on my now stripped mattress lacing up my converse. Cool and comfy! I thought as I turned to look at myself in the mirror. I quickly ran downstairs taking two steps at a time and once out of the front door, breathing in the cool gust of air. My mother got into the driver's seat and I in the passenger and started driving. As the car slowly started to eat up the miles I started looking back on my life that I would probably never visit again.
As of me, I was a perfect grade "A" student in my High School and hadn't got a single slip in the past fifteen years in my life. No romantic history and only one friend Jade. And yes, no social life outside of school. Jade and I both were the kind of people who stayed away from weekend parties and would rather stay in and read a book than go out and get drunk. We often had intense discussions about the books we had read and it was a good thing that we were interested in the same genre. One would be surprised at how often these ramblings turned into topics that were pretty serious.
Yeah, so the reason we were shifting was that Mom got a new job because her old one didn't pay enough and it was amazing except a teeny-tiny loophole that it was on the other side of the country. And Dad, well he was out of the picture right after the day I was conceived. It wasn't a big deal to me, honestly. It was just a fact that was there. Often people would be surprised and would look at me with pitiful eyes. But I and my mom have been just fine without him.
Well, that's pretty much there is to say about my life... Oh, well except for the fact that I was probably the only girl in the entire universe who didn't cry while watching 'The Fault in Our Stars'. I read it and enjoyed it for sure. But I did not cry after the movie. Or during it, for that matter.
And this is how I ended up in a car with backside filled with boxes which rattled a bit every now and then. Tired of looking out of the window I pulled out my iPod and started shuffling songs until I found one that had piqued my interest recently. It was a song called Spring Day by a Korean Band called BTS.

I guess I must have fallen asleep for when I woke up it was about evening and mom was still driving.
"How far have we reached", I asked groggily.
"It'll take another half an hour to reach the motel where we'll be staying the night then another eight to ten hours to reach the house". She answered.
Thirty minutes later. We pulled up in front of a motel named 'Crest' and another ten minutes later we were inside our room. Mom had rented a garage for the car to protect it from any thieves that might be lurking around and now she was propped up on her pillows flipping channels carelessly. I took out my phone and started reading 'Chasing Red' on Wattpad. It made me miss Jade a little. She was the person who had asked me to read it.
I quickly sent her a text and being aware of the fact that she must be asleep, leave it be.
At about midnight my mum finally went to sleep and about half an hour later, I dozed off as well.
Next morning I woke up to the sound of mum calling my name. I woke up washed my face with a lavender smelling soap, put in a mouth freshener in place of a toothbrush and combed my hair. Mum had gone to pick up the car so I waited for a while. When the sound of the honk announced the car. I went out and joined my Mom.
Ten hours later I was inside a three bedroom apartment with two baths, one dining room, and a perfectly equipped kitchen. This was a part of my mom package. Wow!
I chose my room, the one without the attached bathroom, thank the courtesy of my mother who couldn't do without an attached bathroom. I took a shower and feeling the exhaustion wash over me in waves, I fell back on my bed and into a dreamless sleep.
