"He walked me that my house." With that statement I finish doing my hair and I'm ready for my novel shopping with Alex.
I am not a procrastinator or such but I don't exactly get ready hours before I'm supposed to. And the is the precise reason I was still in my pajamas when Alex turned at my doorstep at 9o'clock on a Sunday morning.
She was apparently too excited to hear what went on at Ashton's place on Wednesday as I caught a bug so I couldn't attend school and in turn couldn't give her any 'details'. So I was forced to tell her what happened to the 'very last detail'.
"While it was raining?" Alex asked horrified and almost appalled by the idea.
"No. It had stopped raining by then." I deadpan.
"Obviously, otherwise he'd be a terrible boyfriend." She states as if it is the Newton's law.
"He is not my boyfriend." I grumble.
"But you want him to be." She says.
Not denying that was probably the worst mistake I'd ever made because she squealed as if someone had just offered her a billion dollars. Okay, bad comparison.
"Uh..."
"You like him don't you?" She asks grinning like an idiot.
"Maybe." I mutter.
"I didn't hear that." She obviously heard me but is teasing me and I absolutely hate her for that.
"Maybe." I say a little louder this time, exasperated. She would get to know sooner or later. Better sooner. I hope.
"Oh my god. You like him." Someone'd think that she is the one crushing on Ashton.
"He is not unattractive." I admit biting my lip.
"OK tell me, when did you realise that you like him?" Alex started the interrogation and I had a feeling that it was not going to be a short one.
"Don't we have to go shopping." I try changing the subject.
"Hush girl, this is way more important. Now answer my question." Alex demands taking a seat and I know that I'll have to answer her questions if I wanna buy something today.
"I can't tell you the exact moment but I blush a lot when is around and do find him attractive." I hesitantly admit.
"OK. Does he find you attractive too." Alex asks looking at me with hopeful eyes. Well sorry Alex.
"How would I know? Besides I practically jumped at him on Wednesday. I bet he thinks that I'm a weirdo who is afraid of lightening." I can't even believe that it is me talking. A month ago I'd never have worried about what a guy would think of me.
"He flirts with you, that's obvious." Alex states.
"So now can we go for novel shopping?" I ask Alex, slightly frustrated. I mean Ashton talk or no Ashton talk, I really needed a copy of 'Where She Went.' I'd read 'If I Stay' quite a while back and all I wanted at this moment was to bury my nose into its sequel.
"If there is nothing you are keeping from me." Alex chirped, unaware if the irritation she was causing me.
I don't reply. Instead I turn around on my heel and walk out of the house. Alex follows me soon after.
Alex sits in the passenger seat while I drive. "Mike asked me out." She says.
"Hmm..."I focus on the driving.
"What hmm?"
"Hmm as in I kinda guessed that. He keeps looking at you in class. When you told me that he was irritating you and constantly messaging I guessed that he'd ask you out." I say, simultaneously keeping my eye on the road.
"Says the girl who claims to know nothing about romance." She says.
"So, did you say yes?" I question. I really thought that they'd be really good together.
"Yes. I mean I know that I was calling him a pervert but I guess it was just because I was jealous." She mutters.
"Look who is talking." I say and Alex rolls her eyes. After that we fall into a comfortable silence until we reach our destination.
"So do you wanna split?" I ask her.
"Nope. We will just go and get your novel and then we can go and get flannels for me." Alex said and I didn't argue with her and followed her inside.
-------------
"So what us this novel about?" Alex asked scrunching her nose as if she was holding a dead rat and not a book.
We had finished shopping and it didn't take much time so we decided to go to Alex's place where Whisky took an uncanny liking towards me and was currently sitting at my feet.
"I haven't read it yet so I don't know. But I know about the previous novel." I told her.
"I'm not interested." Alex says. "But I need help."
"What type if help?" I question.
"Mike wants to take me out but since I really can't dress like a girl and get ready for a date I need help." She doesn't take a breath between her words. Well thanks Mike. I get to tease Alex now.
I smirk at her. "Do I get to tease you?"
"I guess so." She mutters taking Whisky from my lap and running her hand through his fur/dog hair.
"Do you know where is he taking you?" I ask her.
"I don't see why does it matter. Alex says." I'm not surprised. Being the tomboy she is, she probably has no idea why it matters. Well good for me I have Sophie since I too am lacking in the dating department.
"Just because. Also I can't help you but I know someone who can. Her name is Sophie." I tell her.
"Yeah. I know her. I attend physics with her." There is a moment of silence when Alex seems to think over something and then finally says, "hey, if you are not the one helping me out then you aren't allowed to tease me"
"Too bad cause I'm gonna do exactly that." It was my turn to grin like a goof.
"And I thought that you were my best buddy." She makes an innocent face.
"The fact that in gonna be teasing you about it is the proof that I am." I counter.
Alex just rolled her eyes at me.
"You know I think that I'm gonna start right now." I warn her.
"And how do you plan on doing that. You don't know a thing about him except his name. How do you intend to do it Sherlock?" She thinks that she is winning. Well, good luck with that Alex.
"Speaking if that," I smirk, "what type if name is Mike? I mean if I had a pet rock then I'd probably name it Mike. I mean, should not it be short for Michael or something? Shouldn't you ask him about it?"
That is all it takes for Alex to grab a pillow and take a plunge at me. I run, dodging her. But I smile thinking and hoping that this will probably be a friendship to last a lifetime.
