"Monday mornings are the worst," I groaned as I stood beside Alex while she rummaged in her locker for something.
"Yeah tell me about it," she replied uninterested and without paying much attention to her surroundings. When she finally found whatever she was looking for she finally shut her locker-and not discreetly for we got some glances from here and there.
Then she finally turned her attention towards me, "listen, I gotta run, do you think that you could you do without me," she asked a bit agitated.
"Yeah." With that, I made my way towards the music room and as soon as I entered the smell of the now-familiar mahogany wood engulfed me and I instantly felt elated. I ran my hands over the guitar placed on the wall until my I got one it was a black guitar. That is all I could say about it since I wasn't really that big on playing instruments.
Nevertheless, I picked it up and chose a suitable pick and strummed it a few times.
Jake had been teaching me how to play the guitar and I had been learning fast. A little while later I heard the sound of feet shuffling behind me I turned around embarrassed and surprised. But when I saw it was Jake I heaved a sigh.
"You are getting better," he acknowledged.
"Thanks," I reply back, "the credit is all yours though," I add.
"Please..."Jake brushes it off as I hang the guitar back to its original place and walked towards him.
"And how is German going on for you," Jake asked out of the blue.
I reply once I reach him, "it's good Ashton really helped me we will start with the project this Saturday," I tell him.
We reached the cubicles and Jake enters cubical 4 and I follow him inside it.
"I think he likes you," Jake says abruptly and without warning.
I can clearly tell that he is talking about Ashton I still ask just to get confirmation, "what?! Who?!"
The only mistake being I might have said it a bit too fast.
"I know you know and be used on your reaction I can tell that you like him back," he says that as a matter of factly.
"I don't know who are you talking about." OK, playing dumb sounded like a really great idea in my head but when I actually said those words I just seemed stupid.
"Stop playing dumb Callie, but for your own satisfaction, it's Ashton I am talking about. I think he likes you." He tells me.
"Oh," I say unintelligently and then add, "Why do you think that he likes me?" I question Jake.
"He talks to you."
His statement doesn't explain much to my retarded brain in so I question, "so...?"
"So, I mean he really talks to anyone except you." He tries to explain.
"He is not very social." I try to defend Ashton secretly hoping that Jake will dismiss my defense.
"Yet he manages to talk to you, and tutor you. Also, he talks about you a lot," Jake says.
I don't know what to say to that so I remain quiet. After about five minutes Jake breaks my reverie. "I really think that you should talk to him."
"About what," I reply raising my brows.
"This. You like him too, don't you."
I think for a moment before answering the question. "Yes, I think I do." I finally say.
