The Flu

Life was awful. Grace was so anxious, and all she could do was hide in the girls bathroom that Moaning Myrtle occupied. Someone had put something in all of the Gryffindor's food last night  , because the entire house had the flu. It hadn't hit Grace yet, but she was nervous. All she kept thinking of was what McGonagall had told her: her powers would become out of control. She knew she had to be hidden away, but no one knew where Professor McGonagall was, and Grace didn't know where else to go.

Grace ran into one of the stalls and locked the door, hopping onto the toilet as the door creaked open. "Hello? Is anyone in here?" Grace remained silent and pushed her back against the wall of the stall. "Ms. Potter? It's Madame Pomfrey. Professor McGonagall sent me."

Grace slowly opened the door and was faced with the tall witch. "She did? Did she say why she wants me?"

Madame Pomfrey nodded her head and winked at Grace. "Come with me, we best get going before the flu kicks in."

The two witches walked down the halls, and when Grace thought they were going to turn into the hospital wing, they didn't. Instead they kept walking down the hall and stopped in front of the familiar twin gargoyles.

"Peppermint pastries." said Madame Pomfrey. The stone gargoyles stood up and revealed the staircase that led to Professor Dumbledore's office.

"Why are we going up here?" Grace asked as they stepped onto the spiral stairs. Madame Pomfrey remained silent and paused at the big wooden door that was engraved with the Hogwarts crest. Grace listened and heard two muffled voices.

"I am sure of it, Headmaster." came the first voice.

"You have given me no real proof, so I can not act on it. Quirrel has came to me and said the exact same thing about you as well." said the second voice, who must have been Professor Dumbledore.

Madame Pomfrey looked down at Grace and gave a harsh knock at the door. "Excuse them," she whispered. "Professor Snape and Professor Quirrel have been having little arguments lately... Nothing big of course, just disagreeing on minor things and have been feeling the need to bring it up with the Headmaster."

"Enter." said a voice from the other side. Madame Pomfrey ushered Grace inside and closed the door. Grace stared up at Snape, who looked even greasier than usual. He looked at Grace and sneered, and then turned back to Dumbledore.

"If you will excuse me, Severus, I have something to speak to Ms. Potter about. Thank you Poppy, for bringing her up here. You two may leave."

Madame Pomfrey nodded at the Headmaster, and turned out the door, looking sideways at Snape. He stood there for a moment, eyeing Grace and then spoke.

"Where is your brother?"

"He's a little busy at the moment emptying his stomach in the boys dormitory, but if you want to speak him, I'm sure he'll be happy to be in your presence." Grace said, crossing her arms.

"You should respect me, I am your teacher. I demand respect." Snape frowned.

"Severus! That is enough! She didn't do anything disrespectful, all she did was inform you of where her brother was, which you specifically asked her." Dumbledore stood up from his desk and motioned at the door. "You may leave."

Grace tried to hide her smile as Snape stormed out the office. She walked over to the empty chair in front of the headmaster and sat down. "Not to sound disrespectful sir, but I thought it was Professor McGonagall that wanted me."
