It had been half an hour before someone Grace knew pretty well came down.
"Hey Grace." Harry said sitting down next to her.
"Hi." Grace closed her book, and was tempted to tell him about the strange events -he was her brother after all- but remembered Dumbledore's and Mczgonagall's warnings and decided against it.
"What's new." He smiled his bright green eyes looking at the flames in the fireplace.
"Um, not much really." Grace laughed. They sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes. What does it even mean to sit in comfortable silence? Grace wondered. How can silence be comfortable. I mean it's not awkward, but it's not exactly comfortable.
After a few minutes they headed down to he Great Hall. The ravenclaw table was about halfway full, the Hufflepuff table was completely full, the Slytherin table had about fifty people, and Gryffindor table was almost empty. They took a seat at the table, and chatted for a few minutes.
"Bloody hell Harry! I thought you got lost or something! Same with you Grace! We couldn't find you two anywhere!" Ron exclaimed throwing his hands up and sitting across from them.
"You could have at least woken us up or left a note!" Lavender exclaimed sitting diwn next to Ron. Hermione sat next to Grace, and Parvati next to Lavender. Seamus Finnigan came and sat next to Harry, and Nevill next to Ron.
"Guys calm down, we will next time." Harry laughed.
"You can say that Harry, but I'll probably forget. I'll try though."
They all talked for a bit before Ron said something that really caught Grace's attention.
"Today we have Flying Class. We get to ride the brooms!"
"Really!?" Grace exclaimed excited.
"Yea, we have it second class because wedont want to go flying right after we eat; some people don't handle flying too well. They get sick, so we wait for second class."
Grace barely noticed Harry's owl Hedwig come flying down and drop a letter in his lap.
First class was Transfiguration, and Grace did pretty well. They tried the same thing again, and this time Hermione got hers transformed all the way. They also copied some notes.
After class, Grace asked McGonagall. "Madam, would I be able to tell Harry about my um, condition? Because he is my twin after all and I found out I really can talk to ghosts because just this morning I was talking to my parents and it was really nice and I felt guilty because Harry can't unless I help him. And he deserves to talk to them because their wonderful people."
Grace stopped when McGonagall held up a hand. "I know how much you want to tell him Grace," She said solftly. "But you just can't. If he found out by accident, although I don'tknow how he would, but if he did and he promised not to say anything, it would be fine. But you can't tell him just yet."
Grace nodded sadly. "However....... if you somehow found a way to get them to visit him in his dreams, that would be alright." Professor McGonagall smiled.
"Really!? I can do that!?"
"I don'tsee why not. It will be tricky, and you'll have to be awake in order for it to work, but I'm sure you can."
"Thank you Professor!" Grace exclaimed giving her a quick hug before she realized what she was doing. "Im so sorry!" She exclaimed jumping backwards and covering her mouth. "I didnt mean to, I just- I mean I-"
"Its alright." Professor McGonagall laughed lightly smiling. She gave Grace a small hug. now hurry, my next class is coming soon, and you don't want to be late for flying lessons."
Grace nodded grinning, grabbed her books, and rushed out the class.
----------////
Grace ran down to the field where the flying lessons were being held. The third years were just leaving, slowly going. She guessed that they didn't have flying lessons, but a free period. She ran over to Hermione, and tried to slowly stop, but ended up almost doing a face plant. She flew through the air, and the only reason she didn't was because of George who caught her.
"Careful there Gracie." George laughed putting her down.
"Almost planted yourself in the ground." Fred chuckled patting her on the back.
"Might not have been flying today."
"Now, what you're going to do." Fred said putting one hand on her left shoulder, while George put his hand on her right. "Is you're going to walk of there to Hermione over there."
"And this time, you aren't going to trip. No face plant, no tripping, no being clumsy."
"Aye aye captains!" Grace exclaimed saluting them while laughing.
"Good, now go!" They both exclaimed.
Grace walked over to Hermione and looked back giving them a thumbs up. They grinned and each gave her a thumbs up before waving goodbye. She waved back, and they ran up the hill to go to their next class.
"What was that about?" Hermione laughed.
"Oh nothing, just the usual clumsy me." Grace shrugged while grinning. She looked over. Only about five feet away from them were two rows of brooms. The Gryffindors were also having the class with the Slytherins. She looked over and saw Malfoy looking towards her. He quickly looked away, now refusing to look anywhere near her.
"Looks like someone has a crush." Hermione said pointing at Malfoy.
"Oh please, no." Grace shuddered.
Hermione laughed and then quickly went silent when Ron and Harry went by to talk to Seamus. "Why doesn't Ron like me that much?" She whispered.
"It's not that he doesn't like you, it's more that he doesn't know you. You're really nice and funny and smart around me and the girls, but around the guys, it's almost like you feel the need to prove yourself by sounding the smartest you can. I think Ron thinks that you're bragging or showing off ot something."
Hermione nodded. The two walked over to the guys. Neville and Dean had made their way over.
"Hey guys!" Grace smiled standing next to Ron. "Hi Dean, Seamus. Don't know if I've introduced myself yet, but the way things are going, you probably know me."
"Seamus Finnigan, and this here is Dean Thomas. Im from Ireland."
"I know." Grace smiled, They chatted for a few minutes.
"I hate you." Ron laughed.
"Why?" Grace smiled nervously.
"Because you're so good at it! It's not fair! And Professor McGonagall seems to like you; I'm scared of her!"
"How are you scared of her!?"
"I don't know... I just am!"
Grace laughed. She was about to speak up when Madame Hooch walked down to where they could hear her. Her bright yellow eyes were awesome, and her short fray hair was spiked up.
"Everyone, get by a broomstick!" She barked. Everyone rushed to get a broom, and Grace went to the one right next to Harry. Grace smiled at Harry, giddy with excitement. "Put your right hand over your broom and say 'Up!'"
"Up!" Grace exclaimed, and the broom shot up into her hand. She laughed seeing Harry's broom do the same thing, and only two others do the same. Hermione's just rolled around on the ground, refusing to get up in her hand. Neville's however, hadn't moved a inch.
Then they were showed how to properly mount a broom without falling off, and Grace grinned when she said Malfoy's was completely wrong. She told them to push off hard when she blew her whistle, but Nevilled accidentally pushed off before she even had it on her lips.
"Come back down, boy!" She exclaimed, but Neville was rising like a hot air balloon. But Grace could tell he was slipping off even before Madame Hooch, and she screamed and covered her eyes. She heard a big 'BAM!' and slowly moved her hands away to see Neville sprawled across the ground clutching his wrist. Skme of the others were watching the broom rise and float away, but Grace was more focused on Neville.
"Broken wrist." Madame Hooch sighed. She stood up and turned to them. "None of you get on those brooms or you'll be gone out of Hogwarts sooner than you can say 'Quidditch'."
Soon they left and Malfoy burst into laughter. The Slytherin's started making fun of Neville, and Grace clenched her teeth. She was not going to fight him, not with all the windows from Hogwarts facing them.
Then Malfoy grabbed Neville's Remembrals that had fallen to the ground.
Grace and Harry stepped forward. "Give it here Malfoy." Harry said quietly and everyone turned to watch the three of them.
Malfoy sneered. "Sorry Potters. Nope, it may be a bit early, but I think Im going to leave them in a tree, they'll will make lovely Christmas decorations."
"Hand it over!" Grace yelled as Malfoy jumped onto his broomstick and hovered a little out of everyone's reach.
Grace instinctively mounted her broom and saw Harry grab his. She faintly heard Hermione shouting at them but both her and Harry ignored her. They both looked at each other and nodded, and at the same time they pushed off the ground and up they flew. If she hadn't of been so furious with Malfoy, she probably would have giggled what with the adreneline rush of flying, the air going through the stray hairs that had flown out of her bun. She spun her broom around and flew higher, going in a spiral upwards. Grace heard screams and gasps of the many girls, and heard Ron cheering them on. Hermione was still yelling at them, but Grace didn't care and she knew Harry didn't either. They were flying on a broom without being taught, and this had nothing to do with her powers either. She felt a rush of pride in her chest as she turned around to face a stunned Malfoy.
"Give it here or I'll knock you off that broom!" Harry called. Grace smirked as Malfoy called back 'Oh yeah?' with a worried look.
Grace shot towards Malfoy on her broom like a rocket, and stopped as soon as Malfoy moved out of the way. "No Crabbe or Goyle to protect your but up here Malfoy." She called to him as Harry shot towards him too. Malfoy seemed to suddenly realize the same thing.
"Catch them if you can, then!" Malfoy yelled as he threw one high up in the air, and another over towards the castle. He had a pretty good arm Grace had to admit. Harry went for the one Malfoy had thrown up, and Grace darted towards the one that was getting closer and closer to smashing into the castle. She shuddered realizing it was headed towards McGonagall's class window, but picked up speed. She stretched out her hand, and pulled to a sudden stop as she caught it. McGonagall looked up quickly as she saw Grace catch it. Grace knew she was goig to be in trouble anyway, what with her vision and all, so she quickly waved a flew back towards her classmates.
She quickly dove down towards where everyone else was and jumped of her broom like she had been doing it for years. She landed just in time to see Harry do an amazing catch with the Remembral.
He landed safely on the ground, just as McGonagall came storming out of Hogwarts. "HARRY AND GRACE POTTER!" She yelled. Grace quickly ran over towards Harry -still clutching the broom- and they both trembled. Now Grace could see why Ron was scared of her. "Never - not once - in all my time at Hogwarts- " Professor McGonagall speechlessly looked at the two of them trembling. "Did you even think!? How dare you - could have broken your neck!-"
"It wasn't their fault!" Paravti exclaimed grabbing Grace's hand for comfort.
"Quiet, Miss Patil-"
"But Malfoy, he-" Ron said running to Harry's side. Hermione was shaking her head, and Lavender looked nervous, biting her lips.
"Thats enough, Mr. Weasley." Professor McGonagall said looking at Harry and Grace once again. "Come with me, you two. Now." Harry and Grace quickly followed her, Grace letting go of Parvati's hand and grabbing Harry's instead. She was going to be expelled, and seperated from Harry again, and no matter what Harry thought, their Aunt and Uncle would never accept her into their home.
Just as they were about to go in Professor McGonagall sighed. "mrs. Potter, please leave the broom." Grace then realized she was still holding it, so she quickly ran and left it with Lavender, and then ran back.
They walked through the castle, Harry jogging, and Grace walking. She had always been a fast walker anyway. Professor McGonagall quickly looked behind her to double check they were still with her. They kept walking untill they stopped outside of a classroom that Grace remembered to be Professor Flitwicks.
Professor McGnagall asked for a boy named Wood. Wood turned out to be a skinny fifth year with light brown hair, and he seemed very confused as to why Professor McGonagall wanted him. McGonagall led them all down the corridor into an empty classroom.
"Out Peeves!" She yelled at the poltergeist who was writing nasty words all over the board. Peeves huffed and scrunched up his face, but left anyway.
"Potters, this is Oliver Wood. Wood, the Potters who Im guessing you've heard of. Anyway Wood, I've found your new Seeker and Chaser."
Harry and Grace looked at each other in surprise. It was obvious that they were talking about the Quidditch team here at Hogwarts. They quickly turned back to McGonagall and Oliver.
Wood grinned. "Are you serious Professor?"
"Absolutely. Their both naturals. They could play either position too I think. Grace could be a Chaser or Seeker, Harry a Seeker or Chaser. Never seen anything like it. Was this your first time on a broom?" She asked the two of them. They quickly nodded, Grace realizing that she probably wasn't going to be expelled.
"Harry here caught that thing in his hand after a fifty foot dive and ended up without a scratch on himself. Charlie Weasley couldn't have done it. Grace here flew after the other one when it was coming towards the building, and caught it right before they would have smashed into the castle walls."
Oliver walked around Harry and Grace, staring at them, looking them up and down. "They've got the perfect builds for a Seeker or Chaser too. They're both light and speedy, but they'll need decent brooms."
"Ill speak to Professor Dumbledore and see if we can make an exception for the first year rule. And we'll see if we can arange something with the brooms. And I want to hear that you two are training hard." Professor McGonagall said sternly, looking over her glasses. "Or I may change my mind about punishing you two."
"We will!" Grace grinned. Harry quickly nodded and Grace smiled.
"Your father would have been so very proud." She smiled at the two of them. "He was an excellent Quidditch player himself. Your poor mother tried, but never quite got the hang of it."
Grace grinned, and then they were shooed off.
----------------///
Grace and Harry were sitting with Ron and Hermione at the Gryffindorr table in the Great Hall eating dinner. They were discussing the new turn of events.
"Seeker and Chaser!? First years never make the team!? You guys are the yougnest players in-"
"A century" Harry and her chorused. "Wood told us all about it." Grace laughed at how they said the same thing at the same time.
Harry told Ron and Hermione to keep it a secret, and the twins walked over. They crouched down to their level.
"Well done." George said patting them on their backs. "Wood told us. We're the beaters on the team. Our jobs are to protect your guys' pretty little faces."
"I know" Grace laughed.
"We're going to win this year for sure." Fred grinned. "Haven't won since Charlie left, but all that's going to change now. Wood was pretty much on cloud nine when he told us, so you two must be pretty good."
"First practice is next week." The twins said.
"Anyway, we've got to go. Lee Jordan keeps telling us he's found a new secret passageway out of the school."
"Bet it's the one we found in our first week. See you."
The twins left the Great Hall in search of their friend, and Grace watched them go.
Suddenly Malfoy walked up. Grace continued eating while subconsiously listening to Malfoy.
"What about you, Grace?" Malfoy asked sneering.
"Excuse me?" She asked laughing raising an eyebrow.
"Are you going to join in on the wizard duel too?"
"As much as I would love to kick your but in a wizard duel, which you know I would, I've got plans." Grace laughed rolling her eyes.
"Doing?"
"Oh Ive got a date. Dont really want to skip it." She lied staring at him straight in the eyes. Malfoy's eyebrows shot up and a flicker of jealousy showed in his eyes before he covered it up. Harry and Ron stared at her.
"WHAT!?" Harry asked her.
"WITH WHO!?" Ron exclaimed eyes flaring.
Malfoy was still staring at her, jaw clenched. "God guys, Im joking, don't sweat it." The guys slowly calmed down while she continued. "But I do have plans, so sorry Im goin to have to miss the duel, lucky for you."
After a minute while Malfoy set up the details with Harry and Ron, Hermione joined the conversation.
"You guys shouldn't go. Its probably a trap and you shouldnt be wandering around at night. Just think of all the points you'll loose us if you're caught! Its honestly quite selfish."
"Well what does Grace think?" Ron asked folding his arms. Race sighed, seeing as Ron and Hermione were back to disagreeing and hating each other.
"Grace thinks that Hermione is parshly right. It could be a trap. But the guys are also right too, Hermione." Grace said looking at them all. "I mean it is their choice to make. you can't force them not to go. I mean you can try, but you can't force them not to."
"Well It's not your guys' buisness." Harry said folding his arms.
"Excuse me?" Grace laughed staring at him in disbelief.
"You heard what I said. Its none of your buisness."
"And how can you allow them to go without stopping them!" Hermione exclaimed. "Just because you have plans, doesn't mean you can allow them to get rid of all our points!"
"Who do you have plans with anyway?" Harry asked her.
"'Its none of your guy's buisness'" Grace said coldly frowning and standing up.
"Where do you think you're going?" Harry exclaimed frowning at her.
"I've learned when my opinion isn't appreciated and when it's best for me to just leave." Grace said glaring at her brother who was gripping her wrist. She shook his hand off her arm. "And you know what, you guys deal with this yourselves. I try to help and this is what I get in return, so I might as well start getting ready early. You guys obviously aren't happy with me showing you both sides, so Im just going to leave."
Grace turned around When a hand touched her shoulder. "Wait, Grace," Ron said frowning. "Sit back down."
"Yea." Harry and Hermione said.
"Let. Go. Of. Me." She said closing her eyes. Ron let go. "You guys can get lost. I can't deal with you guys right now." And she turned away and walked out the Great Hall.
