"She was drowning, but nobody saw her struggle,"

My first day, hooray. (Note the sarcasm)

My mom drove me to the school on the first day and walked me into the office. "Hi! I'm Lucia, and this is my daughter Adaline... she's new here."

"Welcome!" The secretary said, "Welcome to Lost Hills High! Home of the Wolves!"

My mom laughed, seeming to like her enthusiasm, "Haha, whoo!"

"Now, do you know anyone here or is this all new to you?"

My mom looked at me, expecting me to answer. "Um... I know Carolyn Rogers and Brett Stuart."

"Would you like them to show you around?"

"More than anything." I replied with a smile.

She smiled back and got onto the PA system to make an announcement, "Carolyn Rogers and Brett Stuart report to the front office please." She stopped the announcement and looked at us. "They should be here shortly. Meanwhile here's your schedule." She said, handing my schedule to me.

"Awesome," I said looking at it.

"I'm Ms. Grant by the way." The secretary said cheerfully, "But you can call me Laura."

"It's nice to meet you Laura." I said smiling.

"We're not in trouble are we, Laura?" I heard Carolyn's voice. I turned to where it came from and Carolyn stopped in her tracks, "Adaline!!!" she yelled, running over to me and hugging me.

"Hi, Carolyn," I laughed

"Why didn't you warn me you were coming today?" she said, pulling away with her hands staying on my shoulders.

"I didn't think it was a big deal,"

"You didn't think it was a-? Brett do you hear this?" Carolyn looked at Brett but back at me right after, "It's a HUGE deal, Addie!"

"So what did you want us down for Laura?" Brett asked.

"I want you two to show Adaline where everything is today." Laura told them.

"Adaline! This is great! Come on!" Carolyn said, taking my hand and practically dragging me into the hallway.

"Bye mom!" I yelled before Carolyn dragged me completely out the door.

"Bye Addie!" she yelled back, "Enjoy your first day!"

"And that's Mrs. Horton, you'll hate her. Just, try not to get on her bad side." Carolyn finished.

"I'll take your word for it."

"Wait!" she stopped all three of us dead in our tracks.

"What?"

"Addie, I'd like you to meet the hottest guy in this school, Adam Douglas," Carolyn said.

I looked up to see a tall guy with dirty blonde hair that was slightly spiked on the top of his head. He had blue eyes that were brighter than my future and he wore a nice long jacket that looked very expensive.

He was at his locker and he seemed to have just gotten here. He took off his jacket to reveal a tight grey v-necked t-shirt that hugged his biceps and a few necklaces. He also wore black skinny jeans along with black doc martens.
