Trigger Warning!
The video is my trailer for chapter 21 of The Vampire.

I woke up the next morning, full of regret. My arms stung because of the fabric brushing against the burns.
I felt the worst feeling I've ever felt in a long time.
But all of that pain was nothing compared to the pain I was about to feel.
I heard Jack's voice right outside my room.
"Thank you!" He said. "Aaaaddie." He said as he opened my door, "Addie, are you up?" He walked closer to my bed, "Addie-" he cut himself off, "Oh my god, are you okay?!" He said, seeing my teary eyes and my smeared makeup.
"I'm fine Jack,"
"No, you're not." Jack said, kneeling next to my bed. "Aren't you sweating?" he asked me, noticing my long sleeves.
'Why today of all days does he have to be here?" I thought.
Normally I'd love Jack to be there for me in times like this, but today I didn't want him here, I didn't want anything.
"Addie, talk to me." Jack said.
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" I yelled.
Jack looked at me, his big brown eyes full of sadness. He got up and walked out of my room, closing the door behind him.
I was left lying in bed, tears dripping down my face and my mind taunting me.
Jack tried several times to get me to talk, but to no avail.
He didn't give up that entire day.
*
The time I finally did decide to get out of bed was the next day, Saturday, it was also when Hank decided he had to be at the house again.
"Oh, Adaline," Hank said to me as I walked down the stairs, "We're going to throw a house party tonight, and I'd like you to serve the guests."
"Why would i-?" Hank cut me off.
"Now- it's a formal party, so I expect you to wear a gorgeous dress," Hank started, "But, don't make it so gorgeous that you make every other woman at the party feel bad about what they're wearing... though... that kind of outcome definitely isn't expected." He said, practically spitting venom at me.
He was making fun of me? That wasn't very surprising, but, it still hurt. Of course I wouldn't look good in a dress but he's just going to try and make me feel all bad about it?
"What are we talking about?" my mom entered the room.
"Oh, we're just talking about the little housewarming party we're throwing for you guys." Hank said, wrapping an arm around my mom.
'If it's a housewarming party why am I being forced to walk around and serve food?' I thought.
"Oh! Yes!" My mom said, "Addie, I got you a dress just for this occasion!" she said excitedly. She walked into the other room quickly and grabbed a bag, handing it to me.
"What about Scottie?" I asked, peering into the bag.
"I got him a little tux, he's going to look so cute!" she seemed so excited about this and I wondered why...
Pulling the dress out of the bag I wanted to scream. It was a white dress that looked like it fell about mid-thigh; it had bright pink stripes and no sleeves.
I mean, maybe on someone else, but... that is not happening in the Adaline department today, tomorrow, or any day for that matter.
"Oh! I got you some shoes too." My mom told me, walking around the corner to reveal cream colored wedges that I'd probably break my ankles in.
I gave her a smile, it's nice of her to do all this but... next time, she really needs to talk to me to see what I'd actually like.
"Thank you mom," I said, giving her a hug.
"Oh, you're welcome darling." She said, hugging me back.
As I was hugging my mom, Hank looked at me and gave me the worst look of disappointment I've seen. Almost as if he was upset that I wasn't complaining.
"If you don't mind, I'm going to go back to my room." I said, and carried the dress and shoes up the stairs with me.
I heard footsteps following me, I didn't turn cause I assumed it was Hank coming to heckle me again. When I got in my room I threw the shoes on the floor by my door and the dress on my bed; if the party was tonight I didn't see the point in putting them away.
"Addie," I turned towards the voice. Jack stood in my doorway and stared at me, his eyes full of worry. He ran to me, engulfing me in his arms, "Are you okay? You didn't talk to me yesterday and I didn't want to leave but your step-dad kicked me out and-" He sobbed.
"Jack, shh," I said, hugging him back and stroking his hair.
"I'm sorry," He said after a while and pulled away, sniffling and wiping his nose on the back of his hand.
"No, don't apologize! If it makes you feel better, you can stay for our housewarming party we're having."
"I have to, the only way your step-dad would let me come up here and talk to you was if I helped serve the guests."
"I-I... My step-"
"Hush- Addie- I know he's an asshole." Jack laughed.
I giggled, "Okay, well, we better get ready then; the party starts in a few hours."
"That's plenty of time!" Jack said, looking at me like I was crazy.
"Well, normally that'd be plenty of time for me too buuutttt, I have to force myself into a dress and teach myself how to walk in heels." I told him, picking up the wedges and waving them in his face.
"Alright, alright, I'll stay and catch you if you fall." Jack laughed.
