Earth to Echo 2: The Next Generation

Chapter 6

It was about 9:00 when we arrived.

"So how do we know if we found what we're looking for?" Dylan asked.

"Well in the video it turned all orange on their camera screens." I replied

We all got our phones out and started looking around.

"Did anyone find anything?" Jackson shouted, which was followed by three no's.

As I continued to look around my foot got caught on something which caused me to trip.

"Ouch!" The second the word left my mouth Jackson was by my side asking me if I was ok.

"I'm fine. I just tripped." I reassured him.

"You totall- woah look at that!" Jackson said as he pointed at the shiny thing in the dirt.

"What is it?" Dylan said as he and Brendon ran over.

"I don't know." Jackson said as he picked it up, "It looks like that thing Echo was in."

"Maybe if we beep it might open?" Brendon suggested.

"Here Carmon you try. Your dad was the one who opened it." Jackson said as he handed it to me.

I took it and said the magic word, "Beep."

Suddenly it opened up.

Brendon ran away screaming, "It's gonna kill us!"

"Woah!" I exclaimed.

Inside a little alien sat, but it didn't look like Echo. Instead of the light on its body being blue, it was green.

"Guy's this is awesome but before we start asking it questions we should probably set up for the night." Brendon said after he had calmed down.

"Yeah. Dylan did you bring the tent?"I asked him.

"Yep."

After we put the tent up we laid out our sleeping bags and set up the light.

"Alright I'll go first, and remember one beep is Yes and two beeps are No," I said, "Are you a boy?

Two beeps

"So you're a girl?"

One beep

"Do you have a name?" Dylan asked

Two beeps

"Oh I know what about Greenie?" Brendon said.

"Eww! No way!" I replied," What about star?"

"That's so girly though." Dylan complained.

"Yeah and she is a girl."

"What about Lynx? " Jackson suggested, " It's the name of a star and it's not super girly."

"I can live with that." I replied.

"Me too." Brendon answered.

"I guess it's ok." Dylan said.

"Alright your name is Lynx." I said.

"Did you crash?" Jackson asked.

Two beeps

"So you landed safely?"

One beep

"Do you know who Echo is?"

One beep

"Did he send you here?" Jackson asked.

One beep

"Is it because your building something?" Dylan asked

Two beeps

"Are you trying to find something?" Brendon asked.

One beep

We all started shouting out answers.

"A spaceship?"

Two beeps

"Another alien?"

Two beeps

"Area 51?"

"Brendon!" We all sighed

"A star."

Two beeps

"Is it in pieces?"

One beep

Then I said, "Is it something that powers your planet?"

One really long beep

"Yes!" We all said.

"Alright let's get some sleep and start tommorow." I said.

3:00 AM

"Jackson? Jackson!" I screamed.

Someone tapped me on my shoulder and I spun around to see a man.

"He's not here. He'll never be here."

The man began to walk towards me and I backed away until I hit a solid wall.

He slowly walked toward me. His eyes were just like those of a snake's, his mouth the color of blood, and his face, oh his face was something that resembled a nightmare.

I started screaming, "You promised you wouldn't let anything happen to me Jackson! You promised!"

My eyes flew open and I sat up, still in my sleeping bag. I was covered in sweat and was breathing heavily.

"Carmon?"

"Huh?" I turned to see Jackson staring at me in confusion.

"I-I had a b-bad dream."

"Come here."

I layed back down and he wrapped his arms around me. It was so warm and safe I don't think I ever wanted to wake up.
