I felt like my heart shattered into a million pieces. I couldn't believe that he left. I knew he only did it to protect me. It was just the way he was.

I packed my stuff and drove the long way back to L.A.

Nobody was home as I returned to the house. It was weird to be back.

I walked around the house for a while, before I grabbed my things from the car and went straight upstairs to take a nap.

Late in the afternoon I woke up by someone calling my name. I immediately recognized the voice.

I quickly got out of bed and ran downstairs and directly into Mia's arms.

"It's so good to see you." I said to her, as I pulled away.

Mia smiled at me. "How's Dom? Where's he now?" She asked.

"He's good. I don't know where he went." I said smiling weakly.

Mia nodded in understanding, giving me a small smile.

"Did you eat something yet?" Mia asked walking towards the kitchen.

"No, I just went straight to bed." I answered.

"Let's make something then." She said smiling.

We made a light chicken salad. We had so much fun, just like in the old day.

I was cutting some cucumber, as Mia noticed the ring on my right hand.

"What's that?" She asked, looking at the ring and then directly at me, with a shocked expression on her face.

I took a deep breath, before I answered, smiling from ear to ear.

"Dom asked me to marry him."

Mia squealed in excitement. "That's amazing." She said happily before she hugged me.

It was kind of bittersweet.
I was so happy, that Dom wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and I wanted nothing else.
But at the same time, I was so scared and confused. I didn't even know where he was, he was still on the run and he didn't want me around.

After our meal, I walked out in the garage. Mia kept her promise, not to sell the Charger. I smiled to myself, as I ran my fingers over the body.

I decided to make a call.

I paced back and forth, waiting for an answer on the other end of the phone.

"Hi, Jess." A familiar voice said on the other end.

"Hi, Bri. I need a favor. Can we meet?" I asked insecurely.

"Yeah, sure." Brian answered.

Suddenly Letty walked into the garage, just as I hung up.

"Why do you want to meet up with Brian?" She asked, giving me her harsh look, while crossing her arms.

"He destroyed our family." Letty said harshly.

"No, we brought this on ourselves." I hissed.

"I want to bring our family back together." I answered.

"I want to clear Dom's name. Hopefully Leon and Vince too. Brian is the only one who can help." I explained.

She looked at me for a second, before her expression softened.

"I'm coming with you." She said determined.
_
We met Brian at a small café. We hugged and sat down.

"So what can I do for you?" Brian asked, looking between Letty and I.

"I want Dom to come home. I want to clear his name." I said looking intensely at him.

"We want to bring our family back together." Letty added.

Brian thought for a moment, before he passed us a piece of paper.

"Meet me there tomorrow. I might got a job for you." He said with a serious look.
_

The next day we met up with Brian and his chief.

They wanted us to help them take down Arturo Braga - A drug dealer.

They recruited street racers to smuggle heroin across the border from Mexico to the states.

We had to participate in a test race and we both got picked out.

We got shipped to Mexico, from where we should drive across the border to the US.

We arrived at the meeting place. They took the shipment out from our cars and roughly pushed us forward.

I shared a concerned look with Letty. Something was wrong.

Suddenly Phenix pointed a gun at one of the other drivers, and shot him.

Letty and I knocked the guys behind us in the face and stormed off to her car.

We somehow managed to avoid the bullets. We got in and drove off.

Phenix followed us through the streets.

Suddenly he hit the back of our car, making it flip through the air.

The car landed on its head with a loud crash. My door flipped open and I rolled out, down a small hill. I heard gun shots and an explosion, followed by wheels squealing.

I slowly crawled a bit up the hill. The car was in flames and there was small explosions.

"Letty!" I yelled in panic. I couldn't get up, my whole body was aching from the fall and the shock.

I quickly grabbed my phone and called Brian, while trying to drag myself up. I was shaking like crazy.

20 minutes later the feds showed up.

"Jess!" I heard Brian yell with worry in his voice.

"Brian, down here!" I yelled weakly, from down the hill.

Brian quickly ran down the hill, to my side and wrapped his arms around me.

"Are you hurt?" He asked, as he held my shaking body.

I shook my head in response.

"Shhh. You're okay. You're safe now." He said softly, as I cried into his chest.

"It's my fault. It's all my fault." I cried.

"No, it's not. Shhh." Brian said gently stroking my hair.

Brian took me with him and dropped me off by the house.

A police officer was already there, bringing the bad news to Mia.

"Jess, you need to lay low. If they realise that you're still alive, they..." Brian started.

"I know." I interrupted, looking at him with teary eyes.

"I'll make sure someone's watching you, okay?" He said with a reassuring look.

I nodded in understanding before I got out of the car and walked inside to Mia.

She ran into my arms crying.

"I'm sorry Mia. I'm so sorry." I whispered, with the tears streaming down my face.

After a moment, Mia pulled away.

"Are you okay?" She asked, looking up and down my body.

I nodded in response.

"What happened?" She asked confused.

"I'll explain later." I said exhausted.

"I'll call Dom." She said before she walked off.

"No, Mia! He'll come home. We can't risk it." I protested.

"He needs to know." She said before she walked away and called Dom.
