~A year later
Living here with Ike has been everything I had hoped for.
I kneel down and continue to pick the strawberries out of my garden in the back yard. I absolutely love gardening. I miss gardening with my mother. My mother and I used to tend to the gardens when I was just a little girl, before things had gotten out of hand. Ever since Ike married me, I have been wearing a sundress in the mornings when I tend to my gardens.
Surprised? I know, me too, but I feel different now.
I reach down to pick another strawberry, "Star!" I hear Myst's voice call from behind me.
No, this is Ike's sister, not the young girl I know from my time. But, do not worry, she is like my little sister now.
She runs up behind me, wearing a similar sundress and holding a basket like mine, "I'm ready to help this morning!"
I laugh, "Alright, let me show you how to do it," I reach down to pick the next strawberry carefully, pulling and plucking it from the vine.
Myst's eyes widen then she gets very excited, "Ooooh! Let me try!"
I laugh again. Myst does what I had just showed her and she plucks it gently. I smile, "Very good. I will be right back, I have a full basket now," I turn away and begin to walk back through the garden heading back to the back door.
"Okay, Star," I smile when I see Ike standing there on the back porch, smiling out at us. Once I step closer, Papa steps outside, giving me a big smile as well.
Yes, Papa came back with us. He is caring for me like a father, even though he basically is my second father. Ike is still commander of his mercenaries here, Papa is letting him lead. While Ike is gone to the mercenary base, Papa stays here with Myst and myself. Recently, there has been peace, so the mercenaries have been idle, though. Once I approach them, Ike takes my face in his hands and gives me a good morning kiss.
Papa greets me with a hug as I laugh, "Good Morning!"
I enter the back door and turn to the right into the kitchen sink to drop the strawberries into the strainer for washing later. Before heading back outside, I glance around my house. It is a basic house and not too large. There is a hallway in the center of the wall with an arch leading to the living room. Connected to that is the arch hallway leading to the two bedrooms and the washroom on the other side of the home.
