I slowly open my eyes. Everything around me is dark as I see tall, skinny figures surrounding me.
Trees.
These trees are strange. The forest looks nothing like the one I played in as a child. These trees are extremely skinnier than the trees I know, and the trunks are white, not brown. The leaves are many different colors, including the green color the trees I know have. Most of the leaves are blue and purple. Just like those mushrooms.
This world is like the opposite of the Dark World. Strange how they exist in such proximity to each other. There are rays of light shining through the trees and even though it is dark, the colors look as though they are glowing, bright and glistening.
That is when I look behind me, and the Dark Princess is standing there, with her back facing me, "What happened?" I ask, lifting my left hand up to hold my head.
She turns around to face me, her arms are crossed, "I saved you," She says confidently, with a strange grin smeared on her face. I study her face for a moment, flabbergasted that she would say it in that tone. I slowly stand up.
"Oh, uh, thanks," I reply, emotionless. I know I must keep my emotions compressed to keep the control I have currently. Her grin fades from her lips and she gives me a look that is not amused in return. Flashes of annoyance blink in her eyes as she studies me, "Typical of a pauper not to be appreciative of her majesty,"
I dart my eyes back up to her quickly while my mouth is opened slightly, once again flabbergasted of her tone with me, "What? What is that supposed to mean?"
She huffs at me, dropping her arms on her hips, glaring at me, "I am your Princess, so it is obvious you should show respect," I give her a blank stare, confused with how I am supposed to respond.
It is apparent she does not understand what she is saying. She is acting like an adolescent.
"You are my princess?"
"Uh, yeah? Duh? You are just the pauper remember? They only thought you were me, but you aren't," My eyes widen at her adolescence towards me. It surprises me how naïve she really must be. She seems to just be a rebellious, stubborn young adult who does not fully understand herself or anyone around her.
Like how I used to be.
I cross my arms across my chest and narrow my gaze on her, "Such impertinence leaking from your mouth,"
"I can say the equivalent coming from you, pauper,"
