Sarah's POV

I wake up the next morning still in my clothes from yesterday. My shoes still on my feet. As I started to sit up, I noticed a crick in my neck. I get out of bed and go take a shower.
When I get out Taylor is starting to climb down the ladder from the top bunk.
"Hey," I say.
"What are you doing up so early?" Taylor questioned.
"I just sort of woke up. I didn't even realize it was early," I replied.
"Oh, okay," Taylor said, "Well I'm going take a shower."
"Okay," I said.
I glance at the clock, and it showed 5:38 a.m.
I lay back down in bed and just stare into nowhere.

By the time Taylor got out of the shower, I decided that I didn't want to stay here or go back home.
I decided that I didn't have a purpose here.
I decided that I didn't care anymore.

3 months later

My ankle was claimed to be healed according to Jackson a month ago. I started training back up at the beginning of last week. I have a new training partner, Noah. Turns out he was just in the computer lab for a short time, but he waited to where he would have a partner.
Everything went normal. As if it were a perfect world. But it isn't, and I just didn't want to be part of it anymore.
Everything was so regular. Everything started blurring together. The days blurred. That turned into weeks. Then turned into months.
Months and months of nothing. Nothing important. Nothing worthwhile.
Noah, Taylor, and Jackson all tried to cheer me up. But nothing worked.
Every once in a while I would crack open a smile or a few words of small talk.
There was almost no reason to stay here.
The only thing keeping me here was my three and only friends.

After about a year and a half of hand-to-hand combat, we finally started learning how to properly use a gun and how to fight with the gun.

Another year and a half of gun training and we were finally going to fight.
Noah and I were scheduled to go out with the first crew tomorrow.
We were set to go and search a rebel camp at 5:30 a.m. I wake up at 4:45 a.m. and get dressed into the fighting gear we had been given, black pants with a long sleeved black shirt.
I go into the bathroom and throw my short, brown hair up into a pitiful ponytail. The poor thing wasn't even bigger than my index finger.
We headed out of the compound.

Noah's POV

The Sasha I met 3 years ago is definitely not the Sasha I know today. Before she seamed wounded, but now she was the sharpest knife in the drawer.
We headed out armed. I had three knifes to throw for backup and a K47 gun. Sasha had three knifes also and a handheld pistol.
We walked out of the doors, and there was a bus parked, running, and waiting for us.
Some of the other people assigned to come with us climbed into the bus first. Then Sasha and I.
The bus ride took about thirty minutes. When we got to the town, it looks deserted. The bus jerked to a stop. I was in charge of the group, so I walked up to the front and said, "Okay, we are going to search the entire town for any rebels. Hopefully there are none, but we are prepared for them to be here. So let's go."
At that we were all outside the bus and searching the town.
I ran straight into a building my gun ready. I searched all the hiding spots, but no one was there. Towards the back of the room was a set of stairs.
I carefully put one foot on the first step testing it. It held my weight. I climb up the stairs. No one is there.
There are two rooms upstairs. I open the room to the right, search it, and find nothing.
I go to open the left room, but it doesn't budge.
I throw all of my weight against it, and it snaps open. Before I get a clear sight into the room, I hear someone say, "Drop the gun."
I look straight into the room and see a young girl pointing a gun at me.
"You don't know who your dealing with," I say.
"Drop it now," she says shaking the gun.
"There are a bus load full of people here. If you succeed in killing me, they will come here and find me," I respond.
She doesn't say anything.
"Put your gun down. We can take you back with us. You will be safe," I explain.
"Safe where?" She asks.
"At base with Luke's army," I answer.
"As if. Luke is the reason that I'm all alone here. Why would I go with him? So drop your gun. I won't drop mine," she explains.
"You don't know what your doing," I warn.
Her finger is on the trigger.
"If you pull that trigger, someone will come here and kill you," I yell.
She looks into my eyes for a second then squeezes them shut as she pulls the trigger.

Sarah's POV

I go search a one-storied building and found nothing. Just about everyone was back at the bus or heading there. Well everyone except Noah and people were getting nervous.
There was complete silence and I almost thought I heard someone shout something.
Then out of nowhere a gunshot pierced the silence of the area. It came from the only two-story building.
I took off after a moment of hesitation. I reached the flight of stairs and climbed them two stairs at a time.
I went into the room with the open door to see Noah lying on his stomach on the floor. There is a puddle of blood forming around him. I run next to him and turn him over. He was shot in the left part of his chest. I looked up from him with my clouded vision and made out the outline of a body. I blinked the tears out of my eyes and saw a young girl with a gun in her hand pointed at me.
I quickly point my gun at her. My finger on the trigger.
"Put the gun down," I say with a quaking voice.
She doesn't move.
I can hear other footsteps coming up the stairs.
I look at the gun, not the girl, and shoot.

Later we are all back on the bus. No one asked me what happened.

We make it back to the compound. Soon rumors start to spread that I killed Noah and the girl. But those are just made up.
We continue training right away. I train alone. I don't know if it is due to the rumors or something to do with Luke. I think its a mixture of the the two.
Some people avoid me and some are extremely nice to me. Luke wants nothing to do with me. Taylor and Jackson just want me to be happy. I just want the pain and ache of sadness to go away.
