The Notebook- Chapter 46
Sophia’s POV
“I’m sorry-”
I turn around and look at them, “No, it’s ok. He deserves to be happy and I- I…” I run to the bathroom and lock myself in. I fall to the ground and begin sobbing, “This is for the best Sophia, it’s what needs to happen for us to move on.” I place my hand on my stomach, “I’m sorry baby.” I pull my legs up to my chest and hug them, “Why does this hurt so much, loving you is a mistake and I should hate you for what you did to my cousin, but I can’t stop loving you.”
Flashback.
“Daddy, how did you and mom fall in love?” I pull up to the park and we walk to the small pond located on the edge of it.
“Well baby, I want to say it was love at first sight but it really wasn’t. I wooed her and did the impossible for her to say yes to me. She was interested but I never gave up on her.”
I laugh, “But daddy, didn’t you ever just want to give up on her?”
He smiles, “Sophia, when you find that one person you know is the one, nothing will ever make you give up on them.”
“I’m glad you didn’t give up on her.”
He takes my hand and looks me in the eyes, “Sophia, when you find that one person, and trust me when I say that you’ll know in your heart when you’ve found him, don’t ever give up on him. There will be challenges, some so difficult you’ll want to just give up, but don’t baby, you fight for him. Because if you don’t, you’ll never truly be happy, you’ll never fill that space in your heart that belongs only to him and only he can take.”
I smile through the tears, “I won’t dad, I promise.”
“That’s right, because you’re a Del Rio and we fight for what we want.” he says with so much pride.
“Daddy, what if I don’t ever find the one?”
“You will Sophia, there’s a boy out there that will fill that empty space in your heart.”
I smile widely and hug him, “I love you dad.”
“I love you too Sophia.”
End of Flashback
I lift my head up, “I’ve let you down too dad. I’m so sorry.” I start thinking about all that I’ve done and how I was the one that pushed Zayn into Perrie’s arms. “I love you Zayn, so much that it hurts being away from you. It physical hurts to not hold you and be in your arms. But…but you killed my cousin, you are the one responsible for his death.”
“Promise me you won’t let anyone or anything keep you both apart.”
Ryan’s words ring in my head, “I don’t know what to do anymore.” I close my eyes and I see images of Zayn and Perrie and their child. “I don’t want to lose you Zayn…” I rest my hand on my stomach, “You wouldn’t want Perrie’s baby to grow up without a father but you’re willing to put your own baby through that?!” Liam’s words ring in my head now. “Baby I don’t want you to live without your dad.” I close my eyes again and my internal struggle starts; I love Zayn but I can’t forgive him because he killed my cousin. But- “Argh! Fuck! I can’t do this anymore.” I get up and walk out to my room.
“Soph-”
“Are you ok?”
I smile softly, “Yea, I will be.”
Liam comes near me, “Sophia,” he takes my hands, “I’m sorry for saying all those things I said yesterday, I was angry and Danielle-”
“I know Liam, I’m not mad at you.”
“Sophia, you and I both know that Zayn is making a mistake. Please-”
“Liam,” I stop him mid-sentence, “I’m not-”
We hear a knock on the door, “Mr. Payne.”
“Yes.” we all walk to the doctor, “Something happen with Danielle?”
“Yes, she woke up.”
We all smile and hug each other, “Can we see her?” Liam asks him.
“Unfortunately right now you can’t, we are still running some tests. We just wanted to let you know.” he tells us and then leaves.
“Thank God she woke up,” I hug them again. “Liam, she fought for you, she did this for you.”
“Just like you should do for Zayn.” Josh intervenes.
“I will.” I look at Liam, “You’re right Liam, I can’t do this to my baby. But it’s not only for that, I don’t want to lose Zayn and I won’t.”
