"Pick of Raven inspiration above"
6-2-13: Dear diary,

Today was a long one moving to the seventh town this year. I think it's called Red Creek or something. Looking around, it looks like a picture from a horror movie. There aren't any leaves in the trees even though it's the dead middle of summer, and it's been raining since we arrived this morning. God, this place is going to be total Hell; I can feel it already.

----------------------------------------------- And boy was I right. Everything down to the house itself is creepy and old. I wouldn't be surprised if a murderer lived here at one point of time. The two story house is made of an old brick and there are tons of windows. I think this used to be a mansion from the eighteen hundreds; that also wouldn't surprise me.

The reason we moved here in the first place would be my mommy dearest. Don't get me wrong, I love her and all; I just don't love her job. She's a traveling surgeon, and my dad is the stay- at- home type; and even though he's always home, we really don't see much of each other except when it's time to eat.

I think the only interesting part of moving here is the forest. Since arriving, our neighbors would warn us about it. "No, no, the forest is no place for children." "What forest? We have one of those?" Yeah......that one made me want to hit someone. How do you not notice a forest?!

A tall girl holding a basket of cookies knocked on our door a couple days after moving here. Her blond hair was pulled up in a long ponytail, and her eyes were a striking blue color.

I greeted her as she handed me the cookies. "Hi! My name's Melinda Evans, but you can just call me Mindy." She stared at me with a wide grin, and I have to admit, it was pretty awkward. "Uh....hi? Are you going to warn me about the woods too....or what?" Her smile faltered a bit at the mention of the woods.

"People around here don't like to talk about the woods much. They say that there are monsters, ghosts, and whatever else they can come up with in there. I really don't believe it, but you don't want to take any chances, right?" I raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Right....." Instead of leaving like most people did after mentioning the forest, she stayed there smiling.

"Are you going to go to school after break? It's next week, you know." I nodded and thought about the problems that came with that. New kid, new town, new school. It usually ends in embarrassment. "Sure." With that, she left.

When I went back inside and set the cookies on the counter, I couldn't help but to try one. They tasted like Thin Mints, and were the best cookies I'd ever had. "Dad, we have cookies!" I heard the TV in the living room pause and heard him coming to the kitchen. His brown hair was disheveled, and it looked like he hasn't slept since we got here. Must have been the long drive and unpacking. "What kind?" I smoothed down his hair out of habit, "Tastes like Thin Mints."

He took one from the pile and popped it onto his mouth. He made a strange noise, "Wow, these are awesome. Who this time?" I grabbed milk out of the fridge and filled a glass. "A girl named Melinda. She said that school's starting back next week from break." He nodded thoughtfully before taking two more cookies. "Do you need anything for school?" I shook my head and grabbed another cookie and my milk and headed upstairs to my room.

Really and truly, this had to be the largest bedroom I've had. Ever. Period. It has vaulted ceilings and the walls are covered in antique wallpaper of tiny blue roses that, when not looking directly at them, made the room look solid blue. The best part is that I have my own bathroom; but instead of a shower, there is a clawed tub in its place. This room is every child's dream, and I could really get used to this. Maybe the house isn't as bad as I thought.

After I demolished my last cookie, I lounged on my bed and turned on the TV. The first thing that popped up? The news. What's so bad about this? The fact that my little, "quiet" town is being shown.

---------------------------------------------

"On tonight's watch, a man and his dog has gone missing in the small town of Red Creek. Eye witnesses claim that they were last seen going into the woods behind their home. If anyone sees this man or his dog, please contact the local authorities."

---------------------------------------------

A balding man with a slight smirk flashed onto the screen along with a picture of his chocolate lab. Great. Just.....great. More problems from the dark side of the woods. From the looks of things, I was right from the beginning. This little town is going to be Hell.

------------------------------------------------Well it looks like Raven's having a wonderful time, yeah? No? Either way, I hope you enjoy this story. I've been wanting to do something like this for a while, and I finally got to it! Hope ya like it! Don't forget to comment and vote!

Ps. Can't you tell I like the color blue?
