[Tessa's POV]
We stepped through the portal to find ourselves standing in a deserted alleyway. It was a dead end and the walls around us were old and covered in grime. It certainly seemed like no one had been down here in a while. We turned around, walking down the narrow corridor we headed to the street to see exactly where we were. We were still in France, that was evident by the signs all around us, though it was a part of the country I had never before seen. There was a slight breeze as we arrived out of the alley and I could smell the familiar salty stench that was the Atlantic ocean. That could only mean one thing, Winston had indeed never made it across the ocean.
Portals work in a odd way. When you enter one you must first think of where you want to go, visualize it in your head and it will take you there. Walking through the portal I tried to picture what I had seen during my shift. These were the images Winston had most recently witnessed, meaning he was nearby. It was getting rather dark outside as is was most likely around 2 o'clock am where we were.
Jem: "What should we do?"
Tessa: "It seems awful late to search now. I know we need to find him as soon as we can, but I think I may be too tired to continue on much longer."
Magnus: "I do agree, it is awfully late. Maybe we should find a place to rest for a few hours."
Tessa: "Is there anything nearby?"

We stepped through the doors of L'Hôtel de l'atlantique. It was a beautiful hotel located directly across from the habour and the docks. We walked into the rather rather small lobby of the hotel and went to see what was available. The lobby was beautiful. There was a large chandelier hanging in the middle of the room and paisley chaises off to one corner. We had certainly happened upon one of the nicer hotels in the area.
Receptionist: "Bienvenue! Combien puis-je aide vous?"
Just as I was about to answer the kind receptionist in the broken French that I know, Magnus stepped around me and responded with perfect fluency.
Magnus: "Bonjour. Aurions-nous deux chambres pour une nuit s'il vous plaît."
Receptionist: "Oui. Voici les clés de votre chambre, bonne nuit!
Magnus: "Here is your room key," he said as he handed one to us, "Try to get some sleep."
[Jem's POV]
We walked down the narrow hallway to find our hotel room. We hadn't had any time alone all day and I already missed her beside me. I closed the door behind us as we walked towards the middle of the room. I brought Tessa closer to me and stared into her eyes. They were as gorgeous as they always were, I was so lucky to be hers. I brought my hands up to her waist and leaned in close.
Jem: "I love you Tessa."
She did not respond with her words, but instead brought her lips to mine. As we kissed her hands began wandering around my back as she pulled herself closer to me. Ever so slowly we started walking towards the large bed in the middle of the room. My heart began racing in anticipation as we lay down on the bed together. Out of breath, I pulled back breaking our passionate kiss.
Jem: "Tessa, I love you more than you shall ever know. You are like my sunrise, always bringing me out of my darkness and into the light. Whenever I think I have once more become lost in the world there is one ray of sunshine that seems to break through the clouds. That ray is you."
Tessa: "Where do you come up with such metaphors and similes James?"
Jem: "You inspire me to think beyond the realm of normalcy and reach into my furthest subconscious for words worthy of only your ears."
Tessa: "What does that mean?"
Jem: "You're my inspiration Tessa. That is what it means."
With that she took my face in her hands and once again pressed her lips to mine.
*** The Next Morning ***
[Tessa's POV]
I awoke to a knock at our hotel room door. What time was is it? Blinking a few times to try and get my still tired eyes to focus, I saw Jem laying next to me still asleep.
Tessa: "One moment!"
I was wrapping a sheet around myself as the door opened and Magnus stepped in.
Tessa: "Seriously Magnus, you need to stop barging into other people's rooms like this. How did you get in here anyways?"
Magnus: "I'm a warlock, my ability to get into a locked room should not shock you."
I looked around the room at the clothes that were randomly strewn about the room and blushed. Why must Magnus always see me at times like this. It was seriously becoming an annoyance.
Tessa: "Would you mind leaving while we get dressed?"
Magnus: "You are no fun at all Tessa," he said mockingly as he stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him.
