No one's POV
Maka left to school without Soul. She was still bitter about Soul's silent treatment and decided she didn't need him. It wasn't until the first class was almost over that Soul strolled in. Professor Stein had been discussing his favorite subject . . . dissection.
"Hello, Soul. I'm glad you could join us today. Please take your seat." Soul nodded and sat inbetween Maka and Death the Kid. Tsubaki sat on the other side of Crona and Black Star on the other side of her. Crona was sitting on Maka's left and Liz and Patty were sitting on the other side of Kid.
"What took you so long?" Maka asked whispering. Soul didn't respond. Instead he started taking notes on what Stein was talking about. It was just a disection, but Soul needed a distraction.
"Hey, Soul, where have you been?" Black Star asked leaning back in his chair to talk to Soul across the two girls.
"Home. I had something I needed to get done." Soul lied, never intending to tell any of them about the letter. He'd need to let Maka know he was leaving though.
"Man, you're always late, it's taking the attention away from me!" Black Star said way louder than needed. Stein looked up at them.
"Is there something you'd like to share with the rest of the class?" Stein asked holding off the disection.
"Um no, sir." Maka called glaring at Black Star. "Shut up, Black Star!" Maka pulled her book out and Black Star went ridged in his chair. He wanted no part of her 'MAKA CHOP'.
Soul sighed. He started thinking about going home, weither it was a good idea or not. He really didn't want to go back, but. . . he loved his grandma. He wanted to make sure she was okay. She just couldn't be dying on him . . . she couldn't die yet.
While Soul got lost in his thoughts time past. The bell was already ringing and he felt like he barely got there. Even though he'd been there for most of the hour, even with being late.
"Soul, what's going on? What was with that letter?" Maka asked. Soul shrugged, he wasn't quite ready to talk with her yet.
"Soul . . ." Maka pressed.
"This is so not cool." He mumbled angrily.
"Maka," Maka turned to look at him, while he still didn't quite meet her eyes. "I'm going away for a little while. I can't tell you where and you can't come with me. I'm sorry it's such short notice, but I've got to leave." Soul informed her. "I'm going home to pack then I'm heading out tonight." He turned around and began walking away.
"Wait! What's going on, Soul?" Maka asked and followed him out the doors. "Please talk to me!" Maka shouted grabbing his arm.
Kid and Black Star both came up too.
"What's going on?" Kid asked. Maka turned to them.
"Soul's leaving and won't tell me where or why." She grunted. Soul met Kid and Black Star with level stares.
"It's really none of your business where I'm going." Soul answered back bitterly.
"I'm your Meister, Soul. Now tell me where you're going!" Maka demanded.
That made Soul snap. "Really, Maka?! I'm allowed my own privacy too, right? Just because you're my meister doesn't mean you always need me and I always need you. Now leave me alone!"
Maka backed off in surprise. Even Kid and Black Star were surprised by this outburst of Soul's. Sure they fight sometimes, but this was a new level of fighting for them.
As he began to leave Maka was about to yell, scream, and kick, anything to get him to talk with her, but Kid held her back. "Let him go, Maka. If it's something so important that Soul can't even talk to you about it, we should trust him and let him handle it."
That was enough to get Maka to stop. She watched Soul with sad eyes as he continued to walk towards their apartment.
'You'll be fine . . . right Soul?' Maka asked herself.
